PS2 Question...

do games like SoCom require you to pay a monthly fee?

nope, just have to have a broadband adapter and an ISP. That's why I like it over XBox Live (only downfall is the selection is smaller for online games)

yeah, its 100% free, and like the guy above me said, theres little online games for the ps2.

The only decent ones I can think of is: Socom, Fifa 2004, Tony Hawks

and if i am correct there shall be a slew of MP games coming down the pipeline soon... correct???

The Xbox is also 'free'..?

Shuzer says 'no' above, and I'm inclined to believe it.
It somehow seems fitting. I don't know why though.

Xbox Live requires:

A.) Broad Band ONLY
B.) $70 Dollars For Starter Kit
C.) Downloadable Content Cost About $5 Dollars Per Download (Just Started)
D.) Some game require an extra fee of over $10 dollars like (Phantasy Star online)
E.) Needs All Kinds Of Info About You Including Credit Card, and everything about where you live, ETC.
F.) Has A HUGE EULA To Read.

I hardly doubt the term "Free" apllies to Xbox Live. SORRY!

Ahhh nice to play all games on PC and not on those pesky gaming consoles 8)

In regards to the xbox:
It can also be played online without Live with simply a connection to your computer. This can be done through gamespy's xbox tunnel and at least 1 other service, the name of which I dont know. These are free besides your internet connection.

XBC: X-Box Connect is a good free online xbox program

The PS2's selection of Online games isn't that small, and it has EA's sportsgames online exclusively just to mention something.

There's more games on the way, too.
I've wanted an online Gran Turismo the moment i played the first part.
It's coming in January :D
