It was the same old "the world biggest LAN party" that consists of Me and two friends :/ I didnt have a computer because i fried it at the LAN party before (wrong voltage :/)

So, i was laying on the floor with cokes all around me and a porn magazine in my hand and i was almost passing out. My friends sat at their computers cursing each other.

Then John turned the light on, and this evil beem from above, cutting through the air and hit me in the eye like fire, the pain was horrible, i bend over in panik screaming "TURN IT OFF; TURN IT OFF". When i finally found a way out of the room, i searched for a new tribe to live with...it feelt like years and finally...i found Johns personal room :O

It was like any everyday teenagers room, exept much bigger. Then i saw something on his table, this black little thingy. I pickt it up, and studied its design and saw the three letters "PSP" shine!!!

What was happening? Had my wishes come true? Have i finally found something to play on after all these monts of fried computers!!! I coudlnt start it because the battery was out, so i found the loader and plugged it in, and played.

It was this racer game, with hovering ships, it was AWESOME. I mean, it was 3D....3D!!!!! IN AN HANDHELD GAMESTATION!!! THREE ****ING D

I was amazed by the graphics and the effects, and the sound! It was so intense and gave me an entertainment ive never feelt before, i played for hours and compleded 4 campains!

I later asked john what this PSP can do. He told me that you can play games (duh) and other stuff, such as:

movies: Buy your own movies and put it on there, but they have to be in PSP format

Pictures: Load pictures from ur computer onto it

Files: Save files on it, but you have to buy extra memory.

Internet and LAN play: ...self explainatory

And other stuff

So now i reallllly realllllllllly want to get this thingy! But i have a few questions, he mentioned that he has the American verison, meaning that you cant play European games on it.

Questions:

I live in italy, but come from sweden. If i buy my PSP here in italy, can it support games i buy in sweden or other countries in Europe?

How much does the games cost?

How much does extra space cost? And how does it work? Is it like an extra CD or...i dont get it, is it something u plug in? Also, how much extra space are we talking about?

Does it have USB support,so that you just plug it into the USB at your computer and start putting your pictures, movies, music and files on it?

Does it support movies that you download from the net? Or from your own DVDs? or does it HAVE to be PSP format? Lets say...i want to put some pr0n on it, can i just plug it into my computer and load it over, then whenever i want, just play it directly in the PSP without any PSP disk or anything?

Can it play music files?

Thanks alot, i hope you can answer these questions

Wow, alot of questions!

First off, there is one Euro region for all (of Asia, Euro, U.S.). Shouldn't have any problems if you get a Euro PSP.

I can only speak for prices here in the U.S. The system with a couple of crap games costs $250 right now. It comes with a 16 mb memory card, but if you want to put a bunch of music, videos, and pictures on it you'll need more like a 512mb card and those cost $80 or so. They come as large as 2gb ($150). The card is a proprietary Memory Stick Pro (miniature Memory Stick) and is your typical flash memory. You can load it with all the media you want via USB loader.

You can put movie files on it as long as you reencode them, and there is free software to do that task. And there are movie discs out there you can buy, and yes, they have to be PSP format discs. Sony has put a lot of money out there so that when a movie comes out on DVD it comes out on PSP too, so there is a good selection of new movies.

Yes it can play a variety of audio formats, too.

Then there's the homebrew programs, of which I've only scratched the surface. I have an NES emulator on mine with all the Nintendo ROMS I could find, as well as a port of DOOM/DOOM II which plays PERFECTLY. They're also working on Quake and Quake II, but my mem stick can't hold enough for them.

I hope this is enough info to get you started! Glad some people out there are still interested in getting PSPs.

One more thing ... that hovercar racing game you described -- Wipeout Pure -- is my favorite by far.

You can play Italian games on a swedish psp and vice versa, all countries in europe are coded PAL, but the psp is as far as games are concerned region free. Which mean that you can play us and japanese games on a european psp. But the movies aren't region free, so you can't play US and Japanese movies on a european psp. the games cost as between 40,- and 60,-.

Extra space is aquired by buying a "memory stick duo" with more space, the value pack psp comes with a 32mb stick, but the giga pack comes with the
1gb memory stick, you can buy memory stick separatly from the psp.

It has USB support.

Dloaded movies have to be converted to the psp format. You can also play dloaded psp games on your psp.

It can play music files.

But the psp has a short battery life, of like 5 hours max. Plus some new ones come with dead pixels.

downloaded and homebrew games do not work with the newest psp's cause they have newer firmware, like 2.6. I think currently. But most hembrew apps are for firmware 1.5

Further more you can store any type of data on a memory stick, even non psp and then transfer it via usb to your pc, I think. Atleast it should be that way.

Oh yeah, and check your pm's.

Thanks for the corrections, Fox.

There is a universal firmware hack in the works, I hear. 2.6 included. Homebrewers rejoice!
