9/10, and Slacker, I'm definitely watching the Dreamers.

First of all, colson, I felt similar to you at some points during the movie, thinking "This movie is awesome, but it's not James Bond!" I eventually reconsidered. The lack of Q and lots of gadgetry, the absence of "Shaken, not stirred," the new-style opening scene, the shift in Bond's character, and the lack of many other elements that we all know and love as James Bond actually make this a better movie than it would have been.

This retained just enough Bond flair and archetype to be a Bond film, but they threw a lot of it away so that they could redefine Bond in a modern way. No, I don't think it's gone forever - the next Craig film will probably have a bunch of the classic Bond elements that Casino Royale lacked - but I'm completely in love with what they did.

It's kind of like they rejected expectations so that people would feel like it was fresh, and not just another shitty Bond movie like every one since Goldeneye, and now that they've established that this is a VERY new Bond, they can go back to the classics without it feeling rehashed.

I think this guy is the best Bond since Connery, and this is the best Bond film I've seen in a long, long time.

Also, Eva Green is probably the hottest Bond girl ever. Her + the dress for the big poker game = OMFGSEX.

Ennui pretty much summed up my thoughts on Casino Royale.

Casino Royale is the best Bond film since Goldeneye which is probably the best Bond since The Spy Who Loved Me. It's a really amazing film. And the card game was really really great. :E

Eva/Vesper is probably my fave bond girl ever and is really pretty.

Overall, I agree with most of what Ennui said.

It's funny because I thought it was going to be horrible and the death of the James Bond franchise, but instead it made it awesome again.

I'm just completely not thrilled about the inevitable shitty videogame adaptation. Who knows, maybe good things come in twos and we'll get a shooter of Goldeneye-esque proportions for the Wii. That'd be cool.

Actually, Casino Royale would make sense as a videogame this time around where the other movies never did. There's a lot of action to be had.

Yeah, I know, but the last five or so James Bond games were all... mediocre.

not Goldeneye... and I'm sure there are a few other notables that escape me...

Where's the "Eh, I'll watch it if it randomly finds itself onto my compture" option?

And be sure to see The Dreamers if you ever want to see her totally naked :D

Oh yeah man... ;) Thats how I first heard about her before the bond film. When I found out she was being starred as the next bond girl, my immediate first thought was the hot girl with the beautifully perky breasts from "The Dreamers". Shes a great actress, hope to see more of her stuff. Great movie too.

Now I'll mention some random things about CR and other bond films.

Am I the only one that really like the main title sequence? I think it is more appropiate to the plot than a string of random girls dancing this time around. I didnt care too much for Chris Cornell song though.

One of the things I think we all love about bond films is the incredible over-the-top stuntwork scenes. Like Bond fighting Christopher Walken on the golden gate bridge in "A View To Kill". Then the classic scene where hes driving half a car... that is memorable... CR had exactly that and didnt come off as really corny like Pierce Brosman bungie jumping off a dam.

I dont think I could stress how beautiful all the exotic locations he went to were. Venice, the Bahamas totally suck you in.

Finally we get a vunerable side of Bond. In this movie, Bond loses faith in himself abit and almost takes the easy way out, but is corrected by his allies. Then that scene... all i can say is in Christoper Walken voice... "WOW!".

CR clearly showed that a bond film doesnt need high-tech gadgets to be more entertaining.

Then to wait for the climax of the movie to play the main bond theme, totally brings it home to what Bond is all about.

Quite simply, Daniel Craig is the ultimate 21st century James Bond...

Bring on the sequel!!

I LOVED the main title sequence. The song was a tad lame, but the trippy cardgame visuals were ace.

Why do you guys have such a hard on for Daniel Craig? Honestly.

I don't like him. He just doesn't fit the picture.

Sorry to bump the thread but I had to get this off my chest. Warning: *The following contains massive spoilers*

*SPOILERS LAY AHEAD*

One of my favorate line's in the movie was when he was getting torchered, Bond said "ALITTLE MORE TO THE RIGHT!!!!" & continue's to get hit by the rope, then later he says' "Oh man, when I get out of here, everyone will know that gone and done scratched my balls!"

Those were some hilarious line's in that movie. ;)

BOND IS ****ING EPIC. But I should be bond, did anyone see my ****ing suit jacket, it's sexy.

That scene had my entire theater screaming for mercy. Ouch.

haha yeah, through my winces and muffled gasps of empathetic pain i could see half the rest of the theatre (the male half) all flinching

I watched it the other day, and yeah it rocked. Kick started the franchise again, generally great all round.

Oh, and the lady you first see riding the horse on the beach is much hotter than Eva Green :P

I thought both of them were really goddamn attractive.
