Well.. since we dont have a general art forum yet. the offtopic art belongs here (according to StarMonkey) so here it goes. a 5 min doodle of a EVILcat. Nothing big nothing special. just a simple photoshop sketch.

lol.. thnx for the comment guys. sometimes I get sick of realism so I just take black and white and a cool "focus colour" take make a tiny brush and just.. doodle away. quite fun!

Yeah i know what you mean. I used to have a problem actually where i couldnt do anything but basically do a photograph type image of something, i couldnt really experiment. However, this last year on my collage art course has done me a lot of good. The teacher basically forced me into doing things i didnt like such as this pciture you have done. Now i love doing stuff like this....anyway I still got an E but i should push that up to a C or a B in the second year.

Anyway, im ranting...

I like the way you managed to do such a simple image, but still got it to have a 3D quality. Its pretty good.
 
I know. you really broaden your creative perspective by doing the things you dont like. It helps you to grow.
 
lol you diss and hardcore critisize other peoples artwork and then you come up with something that barely even remotely resembles a cat. Funny.

I can replicate that in 25 seconds, and I have zero photoshop skill.

Art is subjective. Wether you like it or not is also subjective.

you can't really judge wether or not a piece of art is "good" unless you set up some specific criteria...obviously this would be style-wise technical execution, since again most other criterias you could possibly think of would be way too subjective.

if you have no criterias and just say "good art" everything would essentially fit into being good art...right from little Joey's stick figures to EVIL's pussy.

as for quinny...could you point me in the direction of a thread were EVIL "diss" other people work or isn't CONSTRUCTIVE in his criticism?

Thats just it...you can replicate it. But EVIL had the inspiration to do something like that in the first place. Most people just dont have that...



Prince of space..Please, lets not get hung up on semantics and such. You know what i meant. I was mearly replying to something that guinny said to try and shut him up :p
 
Lol. Sorry for the language but, it's a ****ing cat with two red circles that are proportionally ****ed up for eyes. He said he just did it in 5 minutes for fun so there's no reason to be flaming me. I don't like it, I'm allowed to express my feelings towards it, that's all.

Anyway, the reason i mentioned it, was because i don't like it when someone does something like a piece of art, and then get knocked down because someone else doesn't like it. Sometimes it takes just the words of one person to make a guy feel bad for a long time. I'm not saying thats the case this time, and EVIL seems like the kind of guy who can take criticism for what it is. But just because you don't consider it to be any good, doesn't mean that it isn't. Now then, of course, just because i think its good doesn't mean it is. But its better to give constructive criticism, rather than just say its crap.


EDIT: If someone tries to "prove me wrong" im not going to bother replying. Ive already fallen into another pointless argument over something that really doesnt matter. Im not going to let myself get deeping into it.

haha thank you for further proving my point.

I do get what you're saying though...but do keep in mind that you was about as constructive as quinny in his criticism. instead of giving him some pointers to why this could be good art, you just said that he was ignorant for not recognicing good art/talent when he saw it, even though as I said in my first post this is totally subjective- when there are no set-criterias and sometimes even when there are.

then of course you could go point fingers at who started and also as you said which would be most hurtfull...but really we don't wanna go there.

Quinny: again point me to a thread were EVIL bash somebody elses work.
 
For christs sake my name is Guinny not QUINNY. And just go into the hl2 media section, he diss's every wall paper because they arent simple and boring.
 
Personally, I think the cat looks pretty good. I don't think EVIL was going for "realistic", but rather artistic. And if you can't see that... you have no eye for art.
 
hmm unnessisary though and btw all this crap about i can speak my opinion is er stupid just say wot they want u to say be nice for a change :) i thought it was crap but i didnt say it i said it was good .. I dont understand u guys sometimes :p

lol.. thats not dissing dude.. thast is just providing the creator my oppignion towards his art or whatever he made. I have experience in Art of teh digital type so it would be whise to respect my tips alittle. but I am not bashing anything. I am treying not to.

like BWMASTERS who is providing a bit to much wallpaper's of medium quality. and Anawhatever who made a very busy wallpaper that i dont like. so if i dont like it i say that to him in my own "special way". He should respect my oppiginion instead of treying to bash me because i made a comment oabout his wallpaper. wich is My oppignion. this is a free friggin world where i can speak whatever is on my mind.

I do say soemtimes that i dont like it. but mostly i give critique about the part that i dont like witch may be of some use to the creator

And yes your right but I'm just trying to show EVIL that it doesn't matter how much exp. he has in the field of Arts, he shouldn't critize people the way he does. IN HIS OPINION he doesn't like complex or crowded wallpapers, that doesn't give him the right to go on that thread and say it sucks and that they should make it simpler.
 
Rofl.. I am foreign (Dutch) - (proppably spelled incorrect to :D) So I am allowed by the Spelling Nazi's to make mistakes. A official "LTIS" (license to inccorect Spelling) and BTW, I am only human :D.. I think >:)

registered but I don't really intend to post there. the people got a lot of talent there but honsetly I don't like the way they behave towards "less talented" people and n00bs...the sad thing is that the admins seems to be the worse of people there sometimes.
