Put gel in my hair today for the 1st time..

I've just gotten my hair cut down to a pretty short length, so I decided instead of walking around with a "Dumb and Dumber" bowl cut, I'd style it...but I feel so...twat-ish

can't say I'll be doing THAT again lol
 
I gel my hair all the time, because ungelled its just messy. The trick is to use just enough, and no more. Then rub it in to your hair, making it as messy as possible, then just throw it in any direction you want. Never ever use a comb.
 
I use some fiber stuff from crew. It holds your hair in place but doesnt look stupid like gel. Its kind of like pomade, but more like wax. Ive used it since my friend cut and died my hair. It rocks and chicks dig it.
 
I simply can't be arsed to put any effort what so ever into my hair, I've gelled it a total of one times.

What is it called? I'm in the market for new "gel".
 
Gel looks too wet imo, I'd look for something thats like the synthetic stuff I think you guys are talking about.

It's not wax, but it's more solid than gel, and it leaves the hair "dry". I'm not sure what it's called though, I'm not much of a hair person
 
If im on a night out I use some garnier fructis wax-type-fibre stuff that smells good enough to eat. Expensive though.
 
I'm not going to spend more than $5 on gel, so I really can't be bothered (although my hair does look rather sexy I must say)
 
I hate gel, makes your hair kind of sticky.

I usually just soak it with water, dry it up a bit... and then mess it up.

I use gel all the time. I hate my hair when there isn't any gel in it, it's so thick like a brush and it never goes the way I want it to so that's why I use gel to mess it up with that cool wet/just got up in the morning look.
 
My hair is always messy in a cool way. I take a shower, dry it with a towel, and then elave it. Unless it looks retarded. But that doesn't happen a lot.

Also, I don't wash my hair too often- it gets pretty greasy, but then I can do whatever I want with it, and it stays without gel. When it's clean, it just sort of flops around like a limp fish :(
 
I wash my hair everyday (except for friday nights/saturday cuz i get way too lazy). I heard somewhere that washing your hair everyday is bad for your hair...is this true?

I'm not sure. Soudns like it could be true- I know for sure my scalp would dry out like hell if I did.

Like, maybe once a week. I just started washing my hair somewhat regularly a month or so ago.
 
Heres how much I care about my hair.

I get it cut once every 6-7 months, wash it every time i take a shower, dont comb or anything after towel-drying it.

The most effort I put into my hair is the occasional "hand-combing"

I have to get it cut once a month. I don't think I'm ever going bald...it's too thick.

Wow, after googling about the whole "to wash or not to wash" thing....it's like a huge question a lot of people have.

Yeah it gets pretty crazy. When I get it cut its about 1.5 inches on the top. When I go in next time, it can reach the tip of my nose. But my hair doesnt fall straight down on its own, it gets really wavy when it gets long. So it kinda looks like I have a big hair poof on my head.

By the way, Dalamari spends $200 on his haircut.

Also, I never wash my hair -- I just comb out the dirt!

Its called fiber. Thats whats on the label. Its made by crew. Its a yellow substance so if your not sure open it up and take a look. As comrade said...the wax(or similar) and hairspray combo pwns. I ended up paying $15 for the jar of fiber...but it lasts a few months.
 
One gel is too much.

Don't worry, Dalimari. I'm sure your little brother will understand you were too gelled to pick him up from his basketball game.

You need to do something with your hair people.

Hair is a make or break factor. If you do it badly you can look like a twat.
 
I used some shit called "molding clay" I had to scoop it out like some kind of uber hard peanut butter, seems to be holding up good so far
 
Use gel for a whole spikey look. As long as the majority of it is up and not flat i'm happy :)
 
Don't use gel here. Got my hair cut last week, pretty short now. If I don't comb it too much it looks good :)
 
Thats the kind of stuff I use...well its similar. How do you style it? You should send me a pic and ill tell ya if its good or not.
 
I use various different types of putties, mainly depending on how long my hair is, or how vertical i want it to be !!

I mainly use surf hair by garnier (fructis range) though, is fairly soft, has decent hold, and doesn't darken/wet your hair at all.

Right now though, i just need to get off my ass and get my hair cut !

I used to gel my hair when it was short and it never lasted the day..wax was also a bit rubbish, but I was probably just doing it wrong.

Now I just have it medium length and wash it every day, dry it with a towel and leave it. I'm naturally curly at the bottom of my hair so it flicks out..kinda look like dave grohl I guess?

Anyway gel looks too wet for me and its all too much hassle...longer hair is better anyway :D
