Checked on www.play.com It is still listed as being released on the 21st of June 2004.

Before our less informed members begin flaming, this is important, as Quake IV (AFAIK) will be using Valve technology.

Sure enough, I have a copy on preorder, but am expecting to disappointed...

Umm... i was pretty sure quake IV was being done on the new ID doom3 engine.

Is this some kind of joke?

This doesn't prove anything. Plus Quake IV will be using a modded version of the DooM III engine.

you?

Quake4 is on doom3 tech

its just another retailer who wants you preorder, your money, they will change that date in some weeks.

Why do you keep posting that play.com link?

Since when do retailers know anything?

They haven't even released any screenshots of Quake 4, and it's coming out in a few weeks? right.

Quake4 hasn't even been officially announced yet.

that is just some retailer, they dont know crap about what they are talking about with that, its on doom3 tech and wont be out that date.

I am going on old information here, I remember reading that ID were working with Valve on certain physics elements for their engine, however if this is not, or no longer the case, I stand mistaken.

Uh Valve are using the havoc physics engine, they aren't doing anything with ID. Where have you gotten your info from?

Ravensoft is making Quake4 not ID

but quake 4 is being made on the doom3 engine that is made by ID thus if ( and i stress the if) they had worked on it together (which they didnt) raven would have been using an enigne that dealt with valve stuf, but it all really doesnt matter since none of it is true.

dude ... Im well informed.
Quake4 will be using the Doom3 engine, and from a recent interview with ID, they said Q4 was still in the concept phase.
they are using John's propriety physics engine (in house)
it is being developed by Ravensoft

:p
its being made by Raven, I hope it has the gore of SOF2

edit: I didnt mean to quote you scribble.. I meant to edit my previous post.

Q4 in two weeks?

Right.

On a completely unrelated topic, I have several acres of moon land to sell you. It's pretty cheap now, only $10 per square foot, but it'll be worth ten times that when Bush lands on the moon next year and starts drilling for oil. Tell you what, because I like you, and you remind me of me, I'll cut you a break on the price. $9 an acre. Don't tell my boss, though, he'll kill me.

err... Raven? Was Quake 3 made by raven or did activision change their name?

Activision is a publisher

That would make no sense at all. Quake is an ID series. They wouldn't run it on someone elses next-gen engine when they have their own.

How many acres would several be?

I have no idea what the starter was smoking, but pretty much anything u hear about Quake IV is rumor and speculation, with the exception of its existance, and the handfull of concept shots and development renders that were leaked.

Oh and the various calls for level designers from Raven that mentioned vehicle maps.

Hollenshead a few weeks back said neither ID or Raven would speak about Quake 4 till it was in a state it was worth talking about, and ID themselves wanna get Doom3 out of the way, although game wise Q4 is ravens baby.

Hey Marius.

From the looks, it seems that Quake 4 won't make the date. I didn't hear anything about it at E3 so I'm pretty sure we won't see it this year at all (they might say something during ECTS). And I didn't hear any details about it using Source, afaik VtM:Bloodlines is the only title using Source at the moment (and its release is dependant on HL2).

Never been a quake fan anyway, not since the original. Besides, Killcreek would just put me to shame, so I never play it.

Doom was always the better game anyway, i've got high hopes for Doom3 and HalfLife2, I doubt i'd buy QuakeIV if it was already out. Unreal 3 looks very promising though :D

Right, don't expect Q4 til 2005, maybe close to 2006.

Wednesday, April 14th 2004 is the next Quakecon, there is little doubt in my mind new Q4 info will be made public then. I expect to see Q4 hit store shelves in 2006 to compete with Unreal 3. Also I expect that Q4 will look just as good as the Unreal 3 tech video we all saw a few months ago. Now you do not have to belive me that Q4 will look as good as Unreal 3 but wait untill after Quakecon to make that argument ;)

i totally agree it will look as good may-b better than unreal three. infact i bet it will blow unreal three out of the water in many ways.

You are ALL Complete idiots.

Ok here are the facts folks and I mean the facts!

::Quake 4 is a SP game with MP content larger than Doom 3.

::Quake 4 is set during the Strogg War story line from Quake 2.

::Quake 4 will be using an advance version of the Doom 3 engine developed by iD.

::There has been 1 official picture released but it is just a penicl sketch of the new 'Tank'

::There are 52 leaked images of model renders and concept sketches.

::Quake 4 is being developed by Raven (SoF, SoF2, Quake 2 Mission Packs, Elite Force etc)

There is no Unreal 3 as of yet.

There is UNREAL ENGINE VERSION 3, but not a game called 'Unreal 3'.
