I'm a blood freak. Just to let you know. I've been wondering about the blood effects in HL2. I'm deeply impressed the big change in them. But there are 2 things on my mind!

1. Will the splats stay and won't dissappear?
2. How often will it splat?

I am a blood freak, not a gore lover. I prefer blood more. I would appreciate it when these questions are answered.

Knowing that this is Half-Life yes, most likely there will be plenty of blood, but I bet it's more realistic than HL1. That said, wait till the 30th. No doubt a mod will be released where you can gib to your hearts content.

hehe... I just sure hope that it'll stay. That's what I'm looking forward to. Blasting those Soldiers with the OICW,damn, that's gonna be fun as hell! Watching them tumble off the railing, with blood flying....

MUST....NOT...SPEAK...MORE!!

now that's sig worthy

I hope there's blood splats and spirts, but not huge gib puddles and stuff... i want the effect that makes the weapons feel powerful, but not swim in blood.

If you watch the tunnels video when you see Gordon shoot the 2nd to last combine (Before the Hydra) thats by the wall you will see blood splatter on the wall when Gordon shoots him.

IN THE KNEECAP!

Gordon is a sick bastard :D

In the knee cap? I have to watch it again!

I know,I know. I noticed that when the 3rd time I watched it.

Pools of blood won't fit the atmosphere of HL2,so,leave it out!

Also, in the Bigbait video you see blood splatter from the Ant Lions when they are shot by the gun turret things. You can also see little bits of the Ant Lions on the ground too.

I'm aware of all the dismembrement and blood in the videos! I've watched each and every single one (except the one that came one 2 days ago) 5 times!

I'm just worried the blood might fade away like in Serious Sam. It splats a lot and fades. I hope it doesn't happen

Usually, if there's a lot of blood on a wall, and I'm close to it, it lags me down.

Yep, the effects should be nothing short of amazing. I'm sure valve didn't lack in this area.

Ah, okay I see what your saying. Well, in Half-Life I don't remember the blood splatter disappearing until you went to the next area where the game had to load. So if it didn't disappear in Half-Life I'm sure it won't in Half-Life 2.

Like all decal effects, you can set whether they stay or not, and how many there can be before older ones vanish. You could do this in HL, and I think you can even do it in SS.

WHERE IN SERIOUS SAM? What is it called?!?!?!!??

I'll set it to max,so it'll never fade!

some one find that strider pic. shows it shovig its legs into the chest of a guy, blood is spraying all over.

best blood i every saw in a game was the Doom 3 tech demo. go at a corpse, and you have a simply unbelivable amount of blood. go try it out. the game was ok, the blood was out of this world :)

EDIT: Doom 3 alpha test, whatever.

I don't know much about SS technically, check some fan site dedicated to it. I'm sure it would be a setable variable though.

Spiff,I borrowed the doom 3 alpha and....I played it off the hook. I just loved smearing the blood and pumping them full of lead.

SS had a timelimit on decals IIRC. You could set it to longer or shorter.

HL had a decal limit. If you set it really high, you usually never see them disappear. (I do this and it makes for really messy maps after a while.)

HL2 will probably be similar to HL1.

Good. I don't have to worry anymore :)

The blood in the MGS2 Demo (I believe they cut the blood a bit in the final release) was off the chain.

Can't wait for a mod with nice random blood splats, pools and dismemberment ala SOF2 for Source.

assuming you're talking about the blood splats in the vid, and seeing that you are brand new, I'm going to tell you that those are just placeholder splats and it's been discussed and confirmed for a long while.

MGS2 blood was G.R.E.A.T.

That's how I got my name. I'm a MGS 2 fan.

Really? I would have never guessed.

MGS3 looks REALLY cool.

MGS3 looks awesome. The blood in that game is crazy. In the trailer I saw he shot a guy in the back and blood just blew out the front of his stomach...it was nuts.

That strider stab looks like it could easily create that much blood. It looks pretty good. I wonder how good the closer shots will look.

Go to your local hospital and sit in the emergency room, you should see some good blood splats if you stay long enough.

they kicked me out last time.

one of my friends is taking some physiology courses in university, he told me there's a room with about 30 dead bodies inside, and one of his lab consiste of dissecting one dead human alone. i have been working in the hospital, and i got sick of the place, that's why i have to switch program.

if the guy has a dead female body, a young one, for his lab, i will definitly do the lab for him and try my best to ace the lab. Man when u're alone with a dead body in the purpose of learning the body, what are u going to do??? crazy stuff?!!! i remember how disguisting it was when i dissect a pig in my first bio lab.

there will probably be variables for amoutn of blood and how much. i wish more games would do what valve did with halflife. a variable that says how many decals stay. or you can have unlimited.

They don't have a load of bodies lying around in universities voodoo. They don't do dissections either, they stopped that in the middle of the 20th century, now people have rights when they're dead, dissections are only allowed for criminal investigations and cause of death situations. The most they'll be able to dissect are organs.
