I haven't kept up with the forums for a while, and I was wondering what happened to Fragmaster? A lot of people bring him up and I don't understand why.

Fragmaster was the guy from planethalflife who kept saying last year that the game would be delayed and no one believed him and everyone flamed him to hell and it ends up he was right after all :naughty:

yeah he was bashed by halfli**2.n** not to mention any names. i'll miss him.
maybe he will come back someday :D

he resigned from his position as a www.planethalflife.com administrator, which was a big event because he was the founder of the site. he eventually posted a long melodramatic post on why valve is the spawn of satan and it stirred up alot of talk for about a week and now he is just mentioned when people bring up the sept. release date.

^^ Yeah, that last post by Fragmaster was SOOO melodramatic. That describes it perfectly.

Apparently we believe that we were the reason he left...

Anyway, he was right but the way he went out it all was wrong. He had a very arrogant attitude and made it out like he knew insider stuff that he wasn't allowed to talk about. However, if he did indeed have exclusive knowladge and did sign a non disclosure agreement, then much of what he said and hinted at was illegal.

PlanetHalfLife hates me. They banned me the first day on their forums. They are soooo biased about their shat. If someone asks about requirements, they say the game has not been released, use the search button, and thread closed. I made a very long post about them in the PlanetHardware FOrums on the Couch section as to why they were Nazis heehe. Back in the day when i was a freedeom fighter, 3 months ago....

Yeah. I agree.

One of the problems was indeed he used anonymous sources, which can only translate to rumours. But still stated it as fact.

He was clearly subjective in his news, and it wasn't even just a funny little subjective remark, it was a whole batch of news which were subjective.

So he was right about the date being postponed, but whatever, i saw that rumoured on other sites as well, but atleast they held it from a journalistic perspective. And left the comments for subjective bashing/anti-bashing.

He however acted more like some kind of overlord, god, etc. that couldn't stand not being the alpha and omega, so anyone not agreeing to his subjective news were morons and etc.

And then he was finally right, and he had won, or so he thought, cause he was still generally seen as an arrogant prick by the community.

His retirement statement was very negative all around, he basically said that he hated alot of people at Valve and that HL2 will suffer and not be as good as it could be because of Valve.

He really was a jerk IMO.

EDIT: Also just before he quit he basically insulted HL2.net in the geiger counter about the release date of HL2 being in the summer.

i never really understood the whole hating Fragmaster thing... i mean really after all at the end of the day, he was doing what anyone else on this site does -offer his opinion on games, gamers and the gaming industry.

its so easily forgotten to take stuff u read with a grain of salt... whether its about a game's release date, or opinion on a company such as Valve..

its sad.. but the truth.

That is not the point though....he was supposed to be professional, yet the way he presented himself was more like the average 13 year old. I'm not being ageist, but most 13 year olds clearly aren't mature enough to be journalists.

Much of what he said was too opinionated to take any noticed of. When you want to find out information about something such as a game, you go to a magazine or gaming site and read what they have about it. A decent writer will bring forward a relatively objective look of the game...They will of course include their opinions of the game, otherwise there would be no point in your reading the article but they will do it in such a way as to not try to decieve you. They will "debate" with themselves in the article, stating what they think is flawed while at the same time saying why it may be a bonus to others. Admitedly there are times when games are so poor that you can't write anything positive about them, but halflife2....I don't think so.

Yeah Fragmaster did seem to bitch alot. And whine about everything that Valve did. Despite the fact that they made a game that caused him to create a website of it which he would run for going on 6 years....
