Question For Moderators -Please Answer-

I couldn't help but notice that almost every post by anyone is etheir being deleted or moved, and I was just curious to why? I don't mean to spam so if you could just answer my question question I would be greatly aprreciated. Don't you think you may be going a little overboard with the deleting and moving?

The forum should just be to talk about whatever as along as it has to do with Half-Life 2 or anything Valve, but yet they still get moved and deleted. I just don't get it.

i wrote a long and very detailed impression on how i thought the Half Life 2 delay and what i was looking forward to etc etc...and it got locked.
Because of something like '' lets try and keep important infomation only''
It is a HALF LIFE 2 FORUM. i
It was my opinion about half life2 and got locked. God i was pissed off

basically as others have said. For various reasons from the dumb posts, to the insulting ones to ones that could have been answered by reading the rules/sticky's. Threads made in the wrong area, or those that end up going off topic. Those that get locked do so either because the thread has no point to it or the question has been answered and its gone OT or turned into a flame war or something and it would serve no purpose to keep it open any longer.

Please though, if your thread gets locked, don't post another thread asking why, thats a sure fire way to annoy the mods, PM the mod who locked it instead, though most will give a good enough reason for doing so in the thread anyway. If they don't then reading some of the posts should make it clear why it got locked.

I hope that answered your questions, think I covered most stuff


Edit: ok just had another look, far less have been removed completely than appears. And by the looks of it those that have been removed have absolutely nothing worth keeping and even less to offer the community in the way of useful information.

As for going overboard. I'd say the other mods are quite fair really

i'll give u a wild guess as to why it got locked and why Kschreck's thread got locked too..

too many of the same type of threads!!!

in the last 3 weeks i could show u at least 10 threads (and thats me being very vague in number) with the exact same stuff being discussed/mentioned.. IE. "Valve sucks" "go Doom3!!" "im not buying HL2 and not giving my support to those bastards Valve"

really.. most of the pple.. (the sensible ones) are tired of these type of threads (me included) and would rather have threads like some of the current ones like "gore level" and the "HL2 music" thread..

it gets annoying seeing the same shit being posted every single day when more interesting things can be, and are being discussed..

im not flaming him.. or that other guy.. im just defending the mods cause they take flak which ain't deserved..

in general: we all know theres no new media and Valve isn't talking and all that negative stuff u can think of, so theres no point in making a thread saying it and if u don't like Valve or HL2 than its better to just stay away until u can contribute something useful

Word. I frankly don't see any nazism by the mods (and I've seen them b4 *shudders*). The ones I've seen locked and such are stupid and meaningless. Some are repetitive.

well if ur implying that the forums are "deader" (in ur own words ) because of nazi mods, then a simple reminder of how little information has been released about HL2 and media even less in recent weeks..

I wasn't referring to the mods at all.

And forums more alive than ever? No. I don't get the point of planning mods before the game is out. It's a good way to start burning yourself out early.

and ya if u re-read my post, i never claimed the forums to be "more alive than ever" but as for planning mods go, whatever, nobody is forcing anyone to read anything or go to certain sections that may "burn" those individuals..

last time i checked this forum was a democracy as to what u wanted to read and post so as long as u followed the rules anyway..

Moderators close and move topics if they're not in the right forum (or shouldn't be on the forums at all). Some mods act differently and can appear more strict than others (hence some of you calling them nazis). While there is some variation in moderators' decisions, we all basically do the same thing and remove the junk. Some of the people here aren't really bright and don't know what should be posted where. Some of them are absolutely retarded and post shit that you shouldn't bother reading... That's why some of you may see a thread, then look again and it'll be moved or deleted. As of now, going off topic seems to be a plague affecting many of the members here, which is why a bunch of topics that started out well end up closed. These forums are definitely not as active as they used to be - activity soared right when the source code leak and hacking took place. Now, I don't expect activity to be as high as that until something new is released, or the game goes gold, which won't be for a while.

I hope this answered your question. Some mods are very involved with the forums and reply to every little post and question (thus they may seem like nazis to you if they make decisions you don't like), but I prefer to stay out of the public eye and do my job fairly quietly; however, this had to be cleared up.

Shant name who for obvious reasons.
