Question on cheats...

IGN's guide lists some cheats that don't work for me. Specifically, those that involve spawning extra weapons that weren't in the final game (some of the older models that were in the Binks and the leak).

Is this just a mistake by IGN or is there really a way to spawn these weapons?

Also, you can’t spawn anything the game doesn't have a model or name for. So if you got the guns from the Leak and put them in your game you could spawn them.

Specially playing online.
I'm a die hard UT player, and the worst thing there is is called an aimbot in all of their versions.
What's the use of playing a game, when a program makes you win all there is.
Where is the excitment in a game when that program takes it all away.
For you and the other players who are on that server.
If i get fragged by a better player, then i have no problem with it.
But getting fragged by someone who has downloaded an aimbot, because otherwise he can't win..........

I just like to approach these kinds of posts giving the poster the benefit of the doubt… and assume that he only want the cheats so that he can explore the mechanics of the game or just goof off… I really don’t like calling somebody lame before I know the whole story… Innocent until proven guilty.

What do you mean especially online? If someone cheats offline it is none of your business, and it doesn't affect you whereas cheating online does, if you happen to be playing on the same server.

On Topic! I've found that weapons only tend to spawn in levels where you might use them, e.g. you can actually give yourself the (very buggy if you're not a bot) alyxgun in one of the nova prospekt levels where she's with you and has a gun. I killed a combine with it once

[edit] oh yeah; I wouldn't be surprised if the unused weapon models were still in the game, just not available in the standard maps. Do some research, and make us a cut weapons map!

Seems like the weapon models aren't there, but the code for some of the older weapons may be. Either that, or JBMod was built from the ground up...

nothing wrong with cheating in single player....though your cheating yourself if you do it before you beat the game unless you absolutely cannot beat it.
