I will get a ps3 dont matter what you say

but not soon but still got questiong

I can plug the ps3 into a laptop instead of a tv?
cuz the tv in the rented apartment I live is too old
do I need special cables for it?

since I will buy it in europe, it wouldnt work in america? whit the electricity stuff and tv diferences?

though is still unsure if I will get it

I don't think MGS4 is worth a $700 purchase.

sure more good things will come out on it,like the sequels of the good gams of the ps2 if they dont take the ace combat 6 way

still answer my questiong please

and I will take advantage of a offer here of 399 euros

RJMC, you should really wait until all these games are out before you decide whether or not to purchase a PS3. There's no guarantee that all these games will be system exclusives, or that the games will even be good, so buying one before they're out could leave you with a big, expensive piece of machinery that you play one game on.

I was thinking of getting a wii first but maybe wouldnt afford the 2

and it cant be pluged to a laptop to use as screen? the tv here is too old

The Wii would be worth every penny.

I'm thinking of getting one myself.

you cant plug it into a laptop unless you purchase a pcmia tv tuner card for your laptop.

Buy a Wii and 360.

Yes you can. You'd just need a PCMCIA (or USB if there are any) TV tuner card with composite input, you can get one for about $30-40. Like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Tuner-Cardbus-PCMCIA-Capture-Laptop/dp/B000SJQ1TC

For the power differences you can get a plug converter and transformer from here: http://www.voltageconverters.com/

Unless the PS3 can output to both NTSC and PAL and choose which mode depending on the TV, you'd need to get a PAL TV or a PAL-NTSC signal converter. Though it doesn't matter if you're using your laptop's display with the tv tuner card.

Wasn't there something said about the possibly of MGS going multi-platform because there was concern of the PS3 player base being small and not generating enough sales?

So if you do get a PS3, don't be surprised later if you find you could have bought some of those games for a different system. The PS3 is a solid system but the situation is not encouraging for the platform. :\

those cards are cheap and easy?

though maybe I will get a tv but I am worried the game might look bad for not being a HD

Ace Combat 6 is going to be on the 360.
Oh, and the newer PS3's have backwards compatibility cut, so no PS2 games for you!

metal gear solid 4

and more

Yes but what are you buying it for NOW! My 360 was collecting dust for a very long time. I don't regret buying it, but I regret paying the release price.

If your not going to use it just wait or buy a 360 until some good games come out on the PS3.

jesus christ stop stretching the truth. the 80gigs in ****ing europe (the place god forgot about) wont have backwards compatibility. theres plenty of good and underrated games out for the ps3 right now. just because most people are stupid enough to believe that purchasing a wii and 360 with live every month is cheaper than the ps3 doesnt mean you have to be. buy ur ps3, and enjoy the patheticness that is known as jealousy.

The 80gb does have BC, it's just (mostly) software and less compatible. The 40gb is the one that won't have PS2 BC.

yeah the backwards stuff is another thing, but the ones in stock in europe right now have the backwards right?

still I will buy a tv first

Yeah, if you only have an SDTV, dont buy a PS3 or a 360 yet. A Wii would be a smart move though since it is my favorite of the 3 consoles (so far). I have 7 games for it and only 2 for the PS3 and 2 for the 360. Telling statistics indeed....

but a HDtv is too expensive,or there are cheap ones?

I dont think it will look bad on a sdtv right?

one reason of why I wanted to plug it whit the laptop isfor the resolution too,but buy another tv is a better idea cuz my mom uses the laptop a lot so I couldnt be able to play

but if the adaptor thing is cheap I might consider it

Wii sucks imho it's all kiddy games PS3 is cool because of blu ray and MGS4

There will be plenty of reasons to own a PS3. Perhaps not at the moment, but eventually. For those after a Blu-ray player it is already a good purchase.

Despite the balls up Sony have made of things, the PS3 makes far more sense to me as a gamer than a pc upgrade would.

I agree, but as it stands there aren't any good reasons to get a PS3 at this exact moment. It has only a handful of games, there aren't a whole ton of Blu-Ray movies, and a lot of upcoming games seem to be either getting cancelled or are going multi-platform.

If you're getting it for the games, making a purchase right now makes no sense at all.

I lol'ed.

Well, in next few years, that would make sense.

Why the lolage?

Assuming you have a rig that can run the Orange Box (which my almost 2 year old rig does just fine), what pc games will make that $500-$1000 spent on upgrades money well spent? Come to think of it, what exclusives are there fullstop? And how long will that upgrade last? A year, maybe two, if you don't mind dropping down to medium settings.

Suddenly 400 pounds for a console and hd movie player that will last for at least 3 or 4 years doesn't seem like such bad value.

How about those of us that loathe console gaming?

RJMC, I'd wait. Sony hasn't bothered earning your purchase yet. Honestly...why do you bother spending money on something that COULD be worth it...when there are two consoles that clearly ARE worth what they are asking. You're playing into exactly what Sony is praying people will do.

Simple, stick with your pc.

I'm just getting a little tired of the Sony bashing. It's become trendy, like bashing EA.

Well thats all fine and dandy until you realize that if you were to upgrade your pc now, it would perform practically the same as a PS3. So one upgrade = PS3 quality graphics. By the time the next upgrade is required, it will be because games have surpassed the technology that the PS3 has, and require the newer hardware only available for the PC or the next generation of consoles. For your argument to be true, the PS3 would have to magically be able to handle all the graphical upgrades until the PS4.

We are already soon coming to the point where PCs are overtaking the next gen consoles in processing power. In a year from now Quad core CPUs will be easily affordable, with the next step in cores being "high end" plus there will be more additions in the DX10 graphics card range, which will pass the PS3 easily, and Sony wont have another console out for a couple years after that.

It's become trendy.

And by trendy you mean annoying. Cmon guys he is trying to get some questions answered. At least try to answer them before going into why the PS3 isnt worth it. Who knows, it may be worth it for him anyways...

To answer his questions:

1. No, you cant plug it directly into your laptop. You would need to buy additional equipment to make it work. The PCMCIA TV Tuner card was already mentioned, and thats what you need.

2. Im not sure if there is any way to get it to work on your TV. I doubt it if its that old, and it would probably look terrible if there was some way.

3. Yes, if you buy it in Europe, its not going to work with American TV or Electricity. Not out of the box at least. As has already been mentioned, you would need to buy additional converters to make it work.

4. Buying a new TV is an option, but an HDTV would be pretty expensive, especially in addition to the cost of the PS3. It will look fine on a standard TV, but it wont look "great" like it would on an HDTV.

So, all that said... I recommend not buying one. Not yet.

Oh the ps3 only has a handful of games? I'm sorry, how many reasons can you name to own a Wii other than my friday night dinner cost more than the entire system. My wii has been collecting dust since a month after i bought it. There's NOTHING on that system thats half decent besides metroid prime 3 and wii sports. And honestly, how long are we going to praise wii sports as a reason to own the system? now onto the 360. sure its got halo 3 (...sweet) and some decent games, but i dont see it worth spending 10 a month to play a multiplayer game thats become tiresome over the years. im just giving my opinion. i own all 3 systems, i likem all for separate reasons. but noone has any grounds for saying the ps3 isn't worth owning right now. and im sorry, $700? i got my console, with an extra controller, 2 games, and an hdmi cable for $600.

What follows are three very simple and concise points regarding why your post isn't very good:

1. The other consoles are not a part of this debate. This is about the PS3.
2. The other consoles are not a part of this debate. This is about the PS3.
3. You didn't list any conclusive reasons why the PS3 is a good purchase right now.

blu ray player, heavenly sword, resistance, motorstorm, ninja gaiden, madden 08 (much more enjoyable at 1080p then 360's chop fest), wireless controllers, free online (though useless currently, its still FREE). thats right now. those are a bunch of crappy reasons compared to 6 months from now the reasons there will be. and for those waiting for another price drop, good luck once the big boys hit the shelves and sony starts actually making some type of profit.

Awesome, a checklist!

Blu-ray: Decent.
Heavenly Sword: Lasts six hours, i.e. not worth it in any sense of the word.
Motorstorm: Played it, the only interesting thing was the crashes.
Ninja Gaiden: Is a remake of the Xbox version, and the sequel is 360 exclusive.
Madden 08: Actually runs worse on the PS3, so good job there.
Wireless controllers: The other two consoles have those too.
Free online: Useless, according to you.

And you've somehow missed a very blatant point here. We're talking about whether the PS3 is worth a purchase RIGHT NOW. Not in six months. We don't care how good the PS3 will be in six months, or a year, because buying it now for a game that comes out in six months is retarded. So at this point the general consensus is that no, it's not worth a purchase, and the only half-good reason you listed was that it doubles as a Blu-ray player.
