questiongs about the ps3

Well, you do have a good point in buying PS3 coming november. Few good exclusive titles are coming out on PS3. Other than that, he might be well just wait for next year.

And you've somehow missed a very blatant point here. We're talking about whether the PS3 is worth a purchase RIGHT NOW. Not in six months. We don't care how good the PS3 will be in six months, or a year

Not to halt your tirade, but this is silly. It's dumb to dismiss the immediate future (the next year or so) in this sort of discussion - because it remains very pertinent. I'm buying a Wii for Brawl and Mario Kart Wii, and neither of those are out yet... but they will be, and this is why I'm getting the Wii. Follow me?

I still think it's kind of illogical (if I could go back in time and change things, I probably would not have a 360 or a Wii at this point). I see what you mean though.

I guess the way I see it is that the future of the PS3 just looks abysmal. No system exclusives have shown any particular promise, games are getting cancelled left and right or going multiplatform, the few exclusives left are either getting pushed back or look pretty sketchy, and so on. The 360 at least has a decent track record at this point, with a bunch of exclusives that are legitimately good and original games. And the Wii has Zelda and Metroid Prime, and Nintendo has yet to publish a bad game under the title of Zelda/Metroid Prime/Smash Bros/Mario - so the chances of the new games in those series being good are spectacular.

Basically I just think investing in a PS3 is too much of a risk, because for all anyone knows the games you'd want to get a year from now might not even come out.

Well thats all fine and dandy until you realize that if you were to upgrade your pc now, it would perform practically the same as a PS3.

Perhaps in terms of technical grunt. There's no way it'll last two to three years without taking big hits on visuals. I'd argue that the games still won't be there, but that's down to preference.

Put it this way - in 2 to 3 years a 8800gtx will be good for low settings and a fluctuating framerate. There's no way games at these settings will look or run nearly as well as the last generation of games apearing on the PS3 or 360. To keep the technical superiority you have to upgrade regularly at considerable cost.

By the time the next upgrade is required, it will be because games have surpassed the technology that the PS3 has, and require the newer hardware only available for the PC or the next generation of consoles.

Another $500-$1000, and not because games have surpassed the PS3, but because they have surpassed your pc's hardware. We have to upgrade simply to play the latest games.

For your argument to be true, the PS3 would have to magically be able to handle all the graphical upgrades until the PS4.

I'm not really with you. Most consoles last 3-5 years and there's no need to upgrade - that's part of my point. The pc, as we all know, is quite different. It's not uncommon for current games to be too much for current hardware (Crysis), let alone even more demanding games released over the next few years.

My intent isn't to bash the pc - although there is much about the pc gaming that annoys me a great deal these days - but to point out the inconsistencies in some people's arguments. Why spend $700 on a PS3 that has few decent games at the meoment?. Why spend $1000 on pc components for Crysis, and then have to do it again in a year or two?. You just have to look at the Source engine and the Orange Box to see how things could be done. Games that focus on quality rather than visuals and will run and look great on system a year or two old (just like with consoles). Take TF2 - it runs at high settings at 1280 at 40-90 fps on a pc that is almost two years old. How awesome is that. Now look at everything else.

And to get back on topic, i'd say that now, with the release of Ratchet and Clank so soon, is no bad time to pick up a PS3. RFOM and Motorstorm are both good fun, especially Motorstorm online, and the Blu-ray player is awesome. Heavenly is very short (think EP.1), but makes a great two night rental. I haven't played Warhawk (TF2 and Halo 3 > me at the moment), but I have a few mates that absolutely love it. If you're into dogfighting action there's no real alternative. There's also a good deal of decent multiplatform games available.

How do you bash the PS3 for lack of games and then turn around and praise the Wii? The PS3 may have less games then the Wii, but it has many more good games then the Wii.

This should already be common fanboy knowledge, you use the 360 when bashing the PS3's lack of good games, not the Wii. The Wii is only used to bash the PS3's price.

That list mean shit your comparing NHL 08 on the PS3 to BioShock on the 360 and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on the Wii.
If you want to buy a Ps3 then go on it's people like you that Sony are depending on buying the console when it's at it's most expensive just to wait for the good games.

I want to get the 3 consoles, but since money is a luxury to me so I only can get one, maybe if I can I might get the wii too

also I want the backwards too cuz I couldnt take my ps2 here so I got nothing, and didnt brought my pc games cuz I dont think this laptop is enoguh for it
and since the next ps3 wouldnt have backwards then worst, and them if there isnt enough good ps3 I can get a ps2 game

No, it's not comparing any individual games, you completely missed the entire point. The Wii has less good games then the PS3, so if people should hold off on buying the PS3 because it's lacking good games, then they should definately do the same for the Wii. Unless you consider it only costing about $140 less then the PS3 enough to make up for the Wii's lack of good games.

Right now in terms of (amount of) good games, it's: Xbox 360>>>>>PS3>>Wii. I won't be getting a PS3 until I can find it for $200-$250 max in a couple years. I don't have to worry about getting a 360 since most of the games I'd want will also (eventually) be on the PC.

Look, the major flaw of that list is simple. If you own a 360, then, really, you have maybe 5 reasons to buy a PS3...and not one has penetrated the 90% range. Technically, the Wii has seven great "Nintendo-only" titles (Wii Sports is mysteriously missing)...2 of which break the 90% range.

When making a comparison like THIS, exclusives should be your main consideration...your only REAL reason for purchasing a console...especially when you own the opposing equivalent.

From here...it just depends on what you're into.

a litle update

a friend of my mom who boughts bunch of electronics stuff in the usa cuz works in aerolines can buy one there,my mom say there are adapters to make it work here and if he buy stuff there then maybe is true

so which package are avaible there in the usa?

t will work? I heard the games are region free so maybe there wouldnt be problem whit tv's?

Games might be region free although the PS3 might have separate versions for analog output (NTSC vs PAL) based on location. If that is the case then you would have to make sure the analog TV could display that type that you bought. Or get an adapter/converter. I don't think it would matter with HDTV, all the same.

Arguing about if the PS3 is a good purchase or not is silly. It's all personal preference. some people want it, some don't, it's life. Now quit bickering about why it sucks and why it rules, and help the poor man out :)

I would recommend you wait till MGS4 is released to buy a PS3. I say this because by the time the game is released, the PS3 hardware may be more streamlined and cheaper. Just take a look at what Sony has done to their console since its release; they canned the hardware backward compatibility for a downgraded software compatibility, and that compatibility is only on the 80 gig versions. By the time MGS4 is released, they may bring back BC or add some other crazy feature, like being able to make capaccino or using the PS3 as a George Foreman Grill.

go for it ps3 is great, i have one.
its defiantly worth it your getting a 400$ blue-ray dvd player
with a free, web-browsing, amazingly powerful gaming console
right there is a selling point no one seems to see

And MGS4 might go cross-platform, so it's probably in your best interests to wait and see.
