My boss at work wants to install half life 2 at work, both to play when we are slow, and also to let people see the game in action because we also sell it. What he wants to know is, if he were to take the game home with him at night, can he install the same game and play it there with his same steam account?

Basically he wants to buy a copy, but wants to be able to bring the game with him to work and home and play. He is worried if he installs it and plays it at work, when he gets home he wont be able to play it.

If it matters, its the regular retail version.

He should be able to play it at home and at work, as long as he logs in with the same steam account.

yeah thats what i am thinking. I just didnt know how steam handles it, since he would activate it at work today and then tonight be installing and activating all over again.

With any other game i would say it would work because he would be hauling the disk back and forth with him, but with steam...who knows...lol

My housemate is playing my copy on his computer, I am playing it on mine. So there isn't a problem. Basically steam will know that you have registered HL2 with your account, so will let you play wherever you are.

One thing - when installing it for the second time on a second comp, it will ask you to enter your CD key again, but then tell you "you have already registered this key bla bla" - so just click Cancel and HL2 will be in the games list.
