After i got my pc (with only onboard graphics), i installed a 9600xt, but there is a "NVIDIA Windows 2000/XP Display Drivers" in my Add/Remove Programs list (dont know why thats there).

I had installed the latest catalyst/drivers from ATI before noticing that these NVIDIA drivers were there and i wanna make sure its safe to remove the NVIDIA drivers (or if i even have to).

And maybe someone could tell me why i had these drivers if my pc has never seen an NVIDIA card before. Does it need them for its onboard shebang er whaaaa? Me such a nubster... :(

do you have an nforce motherboard?

Yup most likely. i have a nforce 2 mobo as well. so don't worry i still have my display drivers there, but i recommend leave it there

I say you should unistall them, because the nForce drivers are named "NVIDIA Drivers". And I think if you install the catalyst drivers over the NVIDIA ones, bad things will come.

Get Driver Cleaner 3, it will get rid of the old drivers and mine is version 3 and it has 3 different choices for Nvidia when you select which drivers to look for and clean: Nforce Chipset, Nvidia, and Nvidia Stereo. So I think you may be able to get rid of the display drivers and keep the Nforce ones. I do recommend getting rid of the display drivers because ATi and Nvidia mix about as well as gasoline and a flaming match. Those Nvidia drivers could be bringing down your performance by a lot.
