Quick Question

I know this is probably a stupid question and will get flamed on but I cant Figure it our. I downloaded some custom textures, used wally to put them in a .wad file. Now where do I put that .wad file so I can use it in my map. I am building a Counter-Strike map.
 
source map?.. i thought they were vmf's not wad's .. i hope someone can clarify.
 
Ok if they are, how to I get it to vmf"s? and then where do I put that file?
 
.vmf's are valve map files, which are your maps

Source uses .vmt's and vtf's as the texture files. To use them, you can put them in your materials folder in the appropriate folder for the game. ie: half-life 2 deathmatch\hl2mp\materials for hl2dm
and counter-strike source\cstrike\materials for CS:S

Genocide that might answer one of your questions from earlier too
 
Ok, now how do I convert my textures to the .vmt's and .vtf's files. There in Jpeg form I believe.
