Radeon 9800se 128Mb 300Mhz bus

Okay, so I'm getting this card in a little while, and I know shit about this card. Can anyone tell me about the advantages of the card?........hey, I'm in pain here...
 
the radeon SE cards ar not good. SE=Slow Edition :p . You will be better off with a 9600pro or XT, although i know nothing about the cost of those cards.
 
Well i don't know any specifics, but as i've always thought "SE" means "Shit Edition" to me. Though it's an SE of a 9800. It's not going to go as fast as a regular 9800, or a pro, but you can always OC it to those speeds. The on board memory is also a little slower.

It still probably going to be the same as or better than a 9600. A 9600 Pro gets a 400/600, and a 9800 SE gets 325/500, so you're not getting the same clock speeds. But you are getting the R300 Core wiht the 9800.

So personally i'd get the 9800 SE, and look in to over clocking. Or just get the 9800 Pro if you can afford it, that's a sexy card.

The 9800 core is the R350.

At any rate, clock speeds are not all that matters. The SE versions are budget, and thus performes thereafter. They arent all out bad, but are considerably worse than the 9800. We are talking roughly 9500 Pro performance. If one can "tweak" them into a 9800, its a very good buy... But that aint 100% guaranteed of course, they are basicly defective 9800 with half the pipes disabled and lower clock.

Personally, I advise against such a card. They seem more expensive and performs about as good the same as 9600/Pro/XT (I know I compared it with the 9500 Pro above, but that also about the same performance, hehe). The best card is still the regular 9800, no hassle with softmods, and a proven speed beast.
 
Frank, I have a 9800SE, a Hercules one, AIW (make sure you buy that) and it has L shaped memory, and that means with a little softmodding, it can be doubled into a 9800 Pro.

Saving about 200 quids :)
 
Well just tell me it's better than a GeForce 3 128Mb and a GeForceFX 5200 128Mb
 
Yes, it's better. You'd still be better off with a 9600 Pro or XT
 
How much are you buying the 9800se for?
Because they are all right.
A 9600Pro/XT or 9700 non-pro/pro would be better.
9700's are discontinued but you can still find them.
See if you can spot the 9800se.
 
Asus, all you did was link to the top corner logo on toms hardware.

I couldn't find the 9800se :(
 
Well I'm buying it from one of my friends and therefore I'm getting it really cheap...
 
Of course, there is always a risk, that's why not everyone did it. Assess that risk yourself, and if you think it's worth it, by all means do it.

Softmodding is modification through drivers :)

Yeah driver modding are very easy belive me I have only tried with nvidia but Ive seen SS's of ppl doing it on Radeons... Oh and u gotta be a dufess if u burn out anything with softmodding...

Now they're telling me that a Radeon 9200se 128 mb 333mhz bus is better than the 9800se...is that true?

I refused to buy it...so here I am...stucked with my GeForce3...

thank god i made my own video card, its equal to 16 9800pro's. I made it out of legos and bubble gum wrappers, if you want directions just PM me.
