Radeon 9800XT and 9600XT details finalised

Inquirer = the liars and rumor/gossip machines of hardware news.

Says we should be looking for reviews on the 30th. Can only hope these cards get unrolled on the 30th at Alcatraz (the Ati show) with final retail version of Half-life 2 as the guest star. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Never buy the last product from a generation of video cards...

That's my rule. I'd say get the Radeon 9800 Pro once the XT comes out, for more value, and still a lot of power.

probably, what I will do too. Unless the 9800XT unveils with a $500 price tag and the 9800 pro stays at $400. That would be kind of a bummer, but I'd still get the 9800 pro instead.

well my closest update the Radeon 9600pro is still on for this friday.

£100 for just under 50 FPS acording to the valve benchmark thingy

spiffy

how come the 9600xt has a higher core stock rating then a 9800xt?

Should I wait for this card to be released, or buy a 9800 Pro?

wait for it to be relesed THEN buy a 9800 pro. the price will drop on it.

The longer you wait to buy a peice of hardware the cheaper it will become.

witch is why im waiting to upgrade my processor

from a 2ghz athlon to either

a 2.4 P4 with hyper threading

or a 2.8 athlon without hyperthreading.

either way the P5's will soon decrease all current processor prices a lot.

God... I have to wait till after this card is released... that's way too long :D

nah, they have good sources and usually end up being right, although all things are subject to change.

9600xt is .13 micron, as opposed to the 9800xt being .15, it can handle higher speeds at lower temps i believe, but it only have four pipelines, as opposed to the 9800xt's eight... (i think ;) )
