RAGH tongue bumps :(

hopefully you know what I'm talking about, because I don't know what they're called... those tiny painful little bumps that show up suddenly on your tongue, and stay for days! I hate them, and I get them all the time. anybody know what causes them/how to get rid of them?

Actually I don't know. I used to get canker sores all the time until I started using a special toothpaste.

i used to get them all the time, i think they are the taste buds overgrowing...nothing really gets rid of them, except if you cut them off, which i really dont recommend. :\

nto even cutting them off helps... well, I don't really cut them off, just... bite them off. well, I try any way. it's like a looney toons cartoon, when they drop a bomb- this huge deep crater, will all the earth gone except for where bugs bunny is standing.

they definitely are not canker sores.

They are just sores on your tongue. I get them when I eat really salty things or just bad fast food.

I HATE them.

What I use is an oral anesthethizer spray that you can find at any drugstore, then spray my tongue and no longer feel a thing for about 30 mins.

I know what you mean. When I eat a lot of sour gummy worms and actually like lick the sourness off before eating them for everyone, I get those little bumps that rape the inside of my mouth.

Mine have only ever stayed for a few hours though, damn it must suck for you to stay for days. Anyone know what they are called medically? I mean, it's not a disease or anything, and they don't do anything they just hurt and they go away after a while, and luckily only show up rarely.

Whenever I get one, it's on the tip of my tounge.

The top layer of skin on my tongue sloughs or peels off once every six months or so. Is this an allergy or something? It has also happened in other areas of my mouth. ...William

Answer:
William, tissue should not normally be sloughing off in your mouth. I recommend that you visit a qualified dentist in your area for an evaluation.

I got those when I was drinking too much and not sleeping enough, so quite a bit

They go away if you don't rub 'em
