Raising the Bar Review?

my cousin is a little HL nut and i'm going christmas shopping soon... would this be a good choice as a present? can anybody tell me what the book is like? thanks in advance

The book has on the average 3 concept photos per page, and there are 283 pages. It covers pretty much everything.

One word review? Sexecellent.

The book is REALLY good. There is so much in there it boggles the mind. It makes you realize how much got left out or never made it into the game. There's more then enough in that book to use Valve's designs for a user made expansion pack mod. Makes me want to get back into modding.

I got mine at ebgames after I just had an urge to see if they had any in stock.. The urge to see if they had any in stock turned to urge to buy, so I did.. Its a really cool book and shows you alot of stuff.

Could it potentially spoil HL3? I mean... a lot of stuff that didn't make the cut for HL2 probably didn't make it because they wanted to save it for next time. I hope there's a manipulator next time.

EDIT: There was an advert in on my H.alf-Life 3, so I changed it to HL3. :E

No spoilers for HL3 that I saw but my first read through I only looked at the pictures and read the captions.

I had the same problem. They sent me an e-mail saying they ran out of stock last week. I got another one today at around 3pm saying they had shipped mine off.

I got the same "dispatched" e-mail today. Class. I didn't get the one saying that they'd ran out of stock, maybe I missed it. I noticed it's listed as "Out of Stock" on the site, so I think there is a maybe a shortage of them.

By far the coolest thing I thought in the book was the side by side comparisons of the game characters and the actors faces used for them. They look so identical It's like seeing Half-Life 2 characters come to life.

I'd scan'em nd post 'em but not sure if I'm allowed to do that.
