k here's my story, I have two sticks of 512MB PC3200 RAM which equals to 1GB of PC3200 RAM. I already knew my first stick had a memory clock of 200MHz but my new one is 400MHz, but it has to slow down to 200MHz cuz my other one is slower. Now my question is, would it be worth it to buy another 512MB of 400MHz RAM and swap it with my slower one?

it might be, but does your mobo support dual channel? Because if so, you should save for that, and not spend any more on single channel memory.

The performance increase is not noticeable huge, raising from 333 to 400, (what i did) but im not sure about 200 to 400.

Download CPU ID and check what it says for memory.

DDR memory does not run at 400MHz. DDR400 PC3200 runs at 200MHz. They say DDR400 because of it being Double Data Rate and running at 200MHz. 200MHz x2 gives it the 400 rating but if you are looking where it gives you tech. specs it will probably say 200mhz.

yea i know that with the 2 cycles makes it doulbw data rate, os yea it should say 200 mhz in the cpu id

LOL , sorry for :D

PC2100 = 266MHz DDR = 133MHz Real Clock
PC2700 = 333MHz DDR = 166MHz Real Clock
PC3200 = 400MHz DDR = 200MHz Real Clock

correct me if im wrong, but there is no 200MHz DDR speed, that would make it 100MHz, which make it slower than the FSB of this generations processor. makes no sense? didnt think so :P

*EDIT*

There is a 200mhz DDR speed (100mhz clock). PC1600 is very rare, as PC2100 was introduced very shortly after, and CPUs already had a 133mhz bus. (PC1600 was only useful for older CPUs, Duron, earlier T-birds, etc.)
