Currently i have 512mb PC3200 400MHz DDR memory and since most of the newer games are basically needing 1gig to run at max i was wondering if it mattered what pin socket # on the ram is if it differs with your mobo.

in other words would this work with my system (sig):

pqi POWER Series 184-Pin 512MB DDR PC-3200 - OEM

Model# MD4412UOE
Item # N82E16820141164
Specifications:
Manufacturer: pqi
Speed: DDR400(PC3200)
Type: 184-Pin DDR SDRAM
Error Checking: Non-ECC
Registered/Unbuffered: Unbuffered
Cas Latency: 3
Support Voltage: 2.5V
Bandwidth: 3.2GB/s
Organization: 64M x 64 -Bit

Has a video to watch which shows ram installation. That ram should work ok.
Thanks, that was very helpful (seriously, no sarcasim). It doesnt seem all that tough either, and my mobo manuel says no need to run a hareware BIOS or setup after adding ram. :D

EDIT: and since i just realized i probally cant order it online (mom doesnt trust me with her credit card, ill buy at compUSA or something ) a kingston stick woulnd affect it badly right? (since i bought a "standard" stick of 512 with my comp.)

The kingston ram wil probably out perform your current ram if its a generic brand so it will just slow down to the same speed so that they will work together.

i have a problem... i want more ram... but i dont know what sort of ram i currently have installed or how to find out?
i tried shoving in some old ram from my old pc, caveman style... it didnt fit because it was a different type!
"UG??"
how cans i finds outs please sir?

If you download Belarc Advisor it sohuld tell you.http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

B.Calhoun: It depends what you plan to do with the ram, if overclocking is your thing tyhen some performance kingston is good. If however you run at stock some plain old crucial will do just fine.

*smiles and nods*
i'll just pretend i know what you just just said and click the link...
