Here is a totally unbiased poll on rap. Even though i'd pick the first option.

Great poll. I voted ..... what did I vote?

EDIT And what is the first option?

You know, a poll is beneficial only if there is actually one.

Maybe he's still making the poll... I mean, it's only been....... *counting on fingers*...... over ten hours. Whoa. Nevermind.

I would piss my pants if a poll came up tomorrow with yes or no as the options

sry bout that, posted thread and came to poll thing and had to leave computer for the night :P

I voted "meh, whatever".

Seen as it's damn near impossible to escape this music these days I just let it roll on until some other genre of music becomes the next fad.

It depends on what style of rap we are talking about here. Gangster rappers like 50 cents and those other morons should definetaly be eliminated in a painful accident.

However, some styles of rap like the underground (K-OS) or alternative are pretty good.

I speak the truth.

People who like rap can have it. It gets the chicks dancing on the floor in clubs, but I'd never tune in to it on the radio.

Yaaarr, some rap be good mateys, but others need ta walk the plank.

Cap'n Ennui voted meh, whatever, you scurvies.

I feel most rap is pretty bad in general, thought that is just my opinion and probably cos im a hard rocker! But their is some stuff i like (not sure if some of you would call it rap) but Beastie Boys are mucho cool, and Rage had some rap kinda thing goin on (i think) which was feckin amazin

u can call rage rap, becuase it is, just with a difference, a very hardcore rock difference

Yeah, exactly, hard rock rap combo's are what i dig

What like Limp Bizkit? lol.

Anyway, there are bad artists in rap (like Eminem, 50 cent etc...) like there are band bands in rock. I know it's cliche but just don't watch MTV and listen to the mainstream radio, there are heaps of good bands and rap out there, you just have to look for it.

I really can't stress the following point enough. If you look far enough underground you can find amazing music in virtually any genre. For example, right now im listening to Sage Francis. One single song off this guy has more meaning passion and emotion than 50 Cent's entire discography. Plus dudes like him (and Atmosphere) are good to listen to musically, it has layers and instruments and stuff.

Other examples of good artists in shit genres:

Pop Punk: Screeching Weasel
Hip Hop: Roots Manuva, Atmosphere etc
Nu Metal: Pulse Ultra
House: anything not on mainstream radio/tv

I guess you're right on that. A lot of good sounds come from basically that's underground... I guess it's peoples nature to be more creative when they are nothing, but when they hit it big... they give in... with shit stuff, that makes money.

Sage is cool. Aesop is cool.

But, right now... I think Little Brother is the now, not really abstract or anything, just good ol' soul. Like Kweli or something.

^I think Aesop got a weird ass flow, Sage is dope though.

I'm currently listening to Louis Logic and Jakki the motamouth's and AZ's new album.
