Rapiscan

Well, they're kinda actually paying to get scanned when they buy the ticket.

I don't quite think so... Plane travel has become a nightmare :(

Yet people use it. You can't really say it's an invasion of privacy when you buy it, willingly.

how else are you going to travel across the world? - there are NO other options short of investing in a kayak :(

But you aren't forced to take it. Having 'no' other options doesn't mean that the scan is in any way illegal, and an invasion of privacy.

But that's like saying that if they introduce scanning to buy food which would be a gross invasion of privacy btw that you are not forced to buy food - the logic doesnt hold

Actually, that wouldn't be one. Because you are actually paying for the testing/scanning when buying the food/ticket, you are agreeing (implied, at teh very least) to the conditions that are set. Because of this, the corporations can do whatever they want to their products as long as you know about it.

despite the fact that access to food is the most basic human right???

Yes, because it's a product for sale. There are other ways to obtain food.

Saw this on the news. Looks wicked, but some might find it offensive.

Of course, if you're well-endowed, then scan away! Let them be jealous of what they find! That's not a missile!:naughty:

This is why we don't let you make laws governing corporations and the economy.

I can't see anything at Yahoo, nor at CNN, so I don't know what some of the comments are talking about D:

haha at their carefully worded FAQ's:
Q: How much radiant energy is a person exposed to?

A: Each full body scan of the Secure 1000 produces approximately 3 microREMs of emission.

Translation:

Q: How much radiation does the rapiscan beam into someone?
A: 3 microrem. This is less than a lethal dose.

;)

Not true. Regulations have a purpose.

"You're looking rather radiant today."

"Thank you! I just had a rapiscan!"

"Please stand in front of the rapiscan"
*zzzzzzzzz*
"Is my hair meant to fall out like this?"
"...y..yes... thats how we check for scalp-bombs.. nasty suckers, those are.."

And can you imigine those people who travel through the airports frequently as part of their jobs?

Free chemotherapy, baby!

Just will cause temporary male sterility.

Um, they're not injecting you with all sorts of chemical agents...

Its better to say, "Free Radiation Therapy--for getting at those hard-to-reach cores of solids tumors."

Doh. Thanks for the correction. I was pretty ignorant of what chemotherapy was there... I had only known it was treatment to fight cancer cells... I didn't realize it was injections. Thought it was with radiation

No problem. Its a common misconception unless you have dealt with it...

My dad's fiance before he got married recently to a different woman, had went through chemotherapy for cancer and eventually died. ;(

did you see the video? rapidscan can show an xray of a person ..it can go right through clothes: can see you naked

yes this is a gross violation of privacy. Instead of having to introduce these measures why not not invade iraq in the first place? no invasion of iraq = no escalation of global terrorism based on retaliation for iraq.

Wow.
Could you not just hide explosives in your anus and then cover them with the steal plate?!?!

Q: What if a person refuses to be scanned by the Secure 1000?

A: Persons reluctant to be scanned can be offered the alternative of being hand searched by a security officer. When given the option, most people would rather be scanned.
**** THAT! I'm not getting scanned. You can hand search me. Quite amazing how the terrorists are completely owning our societies and most people just bow down to it. "For your own safety!" **** SAFETY IN THE ASS give me freedom any day.

And the name..looks too much like rape-scan to me.

Q: Can the Secure 1000 images be saved?

A: Saving images can be disabled completely. If saving images is
enabled then the images acquired with the system can be saved on the system's hard disk or transferred to floppy disk for training and legal documentation. The stored images can be recalled and viewed on the system monitor or on any IBM compatible personal computer with color graphics.

Doesn't sound very secure to me. :O

If this helps prevent hijacking, I don't give a shit if some random person I've never met sees me naked.

The illusion of freedom is being slowly stipped down to no freedom.

i'd rather be fully strip searched then have someone take pictures of me with invasive x-ray machines

I couldn't care really. :p

As long as I don't die or get sick from radiation poisoning.

what if he took a screenshot of your crotch area framed it and put it over his bed so that he can annoint it with man-sauce every night before bed?

You don't want to get scanned, don't fly. It's not like they're forcing you to fly.
