too bad heavy rain is going to be same

Cage is the problem. His pursuit is an unintelligible one - to make a game like a movie. I read he even took his script for Heavy Rain to be reviewed by Hollywood screenwriters. Simply, he's doing it wrong, so very wrong.

I wont be holding my breath for Heavy Rain (especially since I dont have a PS3), but hopefully they can pull this one off without the rediculous plot.

Sims 3
6/10

Some good improvements over Sims 2, but some stuff is very unbalanced, for example progressing is way too easy.

The engine sucks ass. I have to play the game on lower settings than goddamn CRYSIS
(Maybe it's just because of my old single-core CPU, I don't know what's the bottleneck)

Because they're two entirely different mediums; they don't work the same way at all. Movies are not the edifice on which they should build their aspirations.

Silent Hill Homecoming - 7/10
Finally finished the game today. It was good. Some decent scares in there but glitches and puzzle after puzzle made it a very tiresome experience.

Was playing it with Musky, those goddamn puzzles resulted in some epic tantrums

Especially that one where you have to move the pieces around....reminds me of my neices cow puzzle I could never do.....I hate that thing so much

True that. However say they persuade him from changing the ending of Heavy Rain from being a fist-fight between two ancient murderous deities, swirling around a blackhole, into something more along the lines of the ending of Se7en (something that is both contextual and emotionally charged) wouldn't this benefit the game as a whole?

Far Cry 2 7/10
Fun game but so much damn traveling + looks shite on my crt tv (but that problem will be fixed hopefully next week :)) Feels a lot like Assassins creed but with guns. Also fire is awesome fun :D
Wat?

Far Cry 2 6/10

Could have been a good game, but super realism != fun imo. Game is far too realistic for me. I prefer the over-the-top absurdity of games like Mercenaries:World in Flames and San Andreas. Although GTA IV is a minor exception. It's the reason why most people like these type of sandbox games in the first place.

FC2 needs moar tanks and airstrikes + destructible environments. (Mercenaries 2)

People complain about the distance and all the guard posts at nearly every intersection on the map, but it is a war zone after all. Although it would be cool if you could just level the damned places and be done with them for good instead of enemies re-spawning shortly after you leave. (like in Mercenaries)

The thing that bothered me was the innumerable bugs here and there, and anytime I find some bugs, that's automatically a huge point deduction from me. (360 version)

Sometimes when speaking with a faction member, very wonky shit happens like the guy sitting in the chair would suddenly and rapidly levitate to the nearby chair.

A good game for the weekend, but I'm glad I only rented it. Mercenaries 2 was much more fun imo.

Note: I think I rated this game already, but after some time with it, I feel I needed to re-rate.

Escape from butcher Bay 9/10

Got this as part of the Dark Arena game and never having played it originally thought I'd give it a run through. Pretty damn good fun tbh. A high degree of suspension of disbelief is required at times, mainly over the fact that rather bizarrely (imo) no one in authority has the sense to just shoot the walking plague of death and destruction that is Riddick in the head and be done with him whenever they've catch him being a naughty naughty boy trying to escape. The sheer amount of space widows you make is quite absurd. Still if you suspend disbelief its a bloody good stealth/stabbie/shooter game, that is nicely balanced and has some good levels. It goes a bit overboard towards the end (they could of cut the last section and be done with it imho). Definitely recommended.

PC or console?

Rollercoaster Tycoon 3+Soaked
9/10

Provides great fun, theres nothing like building your own theme park with full freedom. Also contains some strategy parts, which luckily don't require very intensive thinking. Graphics are great too, runs and looks well even on low-end hardware
If you don't have it yet, I highly recommend you to get it, should cost around $20 now.

You only disagreed with the good man over 1point, that's a ten percent difference. Hardly something to spit your coffee on your keyboard in surprise over.

You're honestly criticising FarCry 2 for being too realistic? I have to say I'm totally agast.

PC. Why do you ask?

Just wondered how your finding the performance. I have to sometimes Alt+Tab at the main menu to stop the game running at 15fps. When I Alt-Tab the game runs back at full speed.

Half-Life 2 - 9/10

Still awesome.

Devil May Cry - 9/10

Really corny and silly and awesome and nostalgic and backtrackriffic.

I stand by what I said. You get a target, you have to travel to find him, kill him, get a new target and repeat. Sound familiar?

Street Fighter 4: 9/10

Fun, even when no one will play with me because I raep too hard.

GTA - San Andreas - 9/10 - Still not nearly as tight as GTAIII, but there's some good moments in the story. Flying planes is fun, buying clothes is fun; it's still as fun as when I first got the game, but nothing compares to GTAIII for me.

No framerate problems at all tbh. for reference I run a 3ghz dual core (OCd 2.4) 4GB ram and a NV 9800 GTX Vista 64 latest drivers etc if that info is of any help.

GTA III tight? I'd of said Vice City was the best of the bunch by a long way. Still haven't finished San Andreas tbh, I hit a brick wall when it came to the one of the Las Venturas missions (jumping from one plane to the other or some such) and haven't really picked it up since.

I found Vice City the worst of the 3. GTA 3 was very well balanced, it just matched the capabilities of the engine etc.
San Andreas is one of the games with the best car handling I've seen so far. It has such a crapload of variety and features which makes it the ultimate game for me.
I've never cared much about the stories of games and skip all cutscenes, so I can't tell much about that.

Vice City is the best GTA ever.

I will still enjoy III over VC and SA. And that's probably only for nostalgic reasons. But **** it.

Vice City > III >>>>>>>>>> San An

San Andreas is the worst GTA game yet made.

I played IV for a grand total of about 5 minutes before putting it down and never picking it back up again. I never finished San Andreas, but I loved VC and III, probably III the most.

Why do you say this? San Andreas was one of the most fun for me.

IV is a decent game btw, but it shouldn't be qualified as a GTA game. GTA games have GOOD storylines. But it's still a fun game.

VC>III>IV>san

haven't played any others (I may try out the psps ones when I get a psp2)

Sacred 2 = 8/10 - Currently playing, but so far the game is quite a bit of fun. Has flaws, but still fun. Loved the original Sacred.

Burnout Paradise: The ultimate Box - 7/10 - Fun & mindless driving. Decent wreck animations & Camera views. Just started playing. Feels shallow overall though.

I agree. It is a fun game indeed.

No, that would be IV.

I think the main problem with IV is that its about 10 hours too long and the good narrative it starts off with drops off. For me the point where things began to unravel is when Nikko is slapping around the Mafia daughter. Suddenly I lost any empathy for the character at that point. It was no longer about him getting by, or getting out of a fix, it was just about him getting money, MONEY, MONEY!!! and I honestly lost interest (though I did finish the game).

Although I've not played it, it seems that from what I've read LaTD was just about the right length as far as gaming experiences go, and it sounds like that tighter format aided the narrative. I still maintain though, that R* really need to get in some proper screenwriters though, because the Housers write for shit imho.

Riddick: Dark Athena 7.8/10

Not finished with it yet (presently planetside using the SCAR), however although it starts off promisingly and has some novel elements like the drones (of which there is a superb set piece), the game gives over to difficulty over ingenuity after a while, which means you rely more upon your firepower rather than your cunning to overcome obstacles in the latter stages (sneak attacks become a distant memory). One of the things I really liked about the first game, was that guns were a bit of a luxury so you had to consider your approach, where as here the spaces are so large and the opponents so plentiful that its often much easier to goto gun from the off rather than try and melee, which is a pity as the game is extremely visceral. On the positives overall the game looks beautiful (reminds me a lot of mass Effect only better), and Milf Michelle Forbes makes for a great nemesis and sure is handy with a knife, though they really should of tried to model her likeness. Well worth a play, but expect to see 'reloading checkpoint' a lot.

RCT3 was way too complex and not very user friendly, couldn't get into it at all. :(

Vice City is leaps and bounds ahead of them all, really.
Except graphics. :p

...but graphics and physics alone doesn't make a good game really. That's only the icing on top of the cake.
I did like ViceCity's story and main character the best and was probably the most over-the-top of them all action-wise.

Why can't you use a chainsaw or screwdriver as a weapon in the other GTA's for example?

On GTA IV's defense however, I will admit I had fun playing around with the re-vamped physics and vehicle destruction for hours all while mowing down hundreds of (seemingly) innocent pedestrians.

I'm a sucker for complete mayhem and obliteration of things and graphics/physics looking good while doing it.

Spin the Black Circle - 9/10

A truly challenging, fun flash game.

I've played Call of Duty 4 before, but today is the first time I played it online. (You know why, you accusing-minded maggots.) It was surprisingly entertaining and addicting just like the single player campaign.

CoD 4 MP mode = 8.5/10

You know deep down inside you want to give it a solid 9 out of 10.
