Spin the Black Circle - 8/10

Fun and challenging, but rather poorly made. Graphics are mediocre, music is horrible, lack of level numbers or names. Something like a level editor would have really brought it to great flash game level.

The game play got 9/10 for my review. All that extra stupid shit only amounted to a score of 1 which was deducted from my review!

I've played Call of Duty 4 before, but today is the first time I played it online. (You know why, you accusing-minded maggots.) It was surprisingly entertaining and addicting just like the single player campaign.

CoD 4 MP mode = 8.5/10

Is that all?
I would give it 10 :D

Dead Space- 8.5/10

Yay, moar space zombies!!!

Good game even though the story is a little cliched.

If you were to take Resident Evil 4, Bioshock, and Doom3, put it all in a blender, then hit frappe, this is the game you would get.

Intuitive.
Thank you.

Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 - 3/10

Why can the enemies see through walls? You crouch and move 1mm a second and they jump out and shoot instantly. The game is a joke.

Except graphics. :p

...but graphics and physics alone doesn't make a good game really. That's only the icing on top of the cake.
I did like ViceCity's story and main character the best and was probably the most over-the-top of them all action-wise.

Why can't you use a chainsaw or screwdriver as a weapon in the other GTA's for example?

On GTA IV's defense however, I will admit I had fun playing around with the re-vamped physics and vehicle destruction for hours all while mowing down hundreds of (seemingly) innocent pedestrians.

I'm a sucker for complete mayhem and obliteration of things and graphics/physics looking good while doing it.

Yeah, IV is fun with the graphics and everything, but I found the story to be weakest of the GTA games for me - a lot of events were predictable, and at times I felt like I was watching a midday soap opera. There are some good moments, and there's some fun things you can do, but I'll agree with Samon here that I thought that GTA IV was the weakest of the series.
I think I've got a soft spot for III mainly because I do like the sense of mystery throughout the story (the main character is kinda kept in the dark about a lot of things, while in later games, a lot tends to get explained more). Plus for nostalgia, etc. Vice City is very well done as well, probably my very close second favorite, with it's awesome cast and such.

RCT3 was way too complex and not very user friendly, couldn't get into it at all. :(

I agree. When it was a HUGE thing to be able to create a coaster that went underground/through a hill, you know the user friendliness has gone away. I hated how I'd make a coaster, and it would fail just BARELY by not going another 1mph over a hill...so I'd have to recreate it a bit. Well, good luck! You can never take away a part of the hill, lower and continue. You'll always be .4 feet off on the other track, so you have to do the ENTIRE part after the fix you did.

That pissed me off so many times.

Crackdown- Fun/10

Srsly, I haven't had so much fun with a game like this in a long while. When I first started up the game though, of course, the graphics were the first obvious thing I noticed just like any modern game and I though to myself how weak they appeared compared to more recent games. I almost stopped and quit playing for that reason, but after a while I realized they look the way they do on purpose. (cel-shaded and comic book colors)

Then I realized how much fun could be had jumping from building to building blasting foes with a rocket launcher mid-air. Felt so damn good to play a GTA clone where the player felt like an unstoppable god among men for a change and so I haven't stopped playing yet.

The only flaw is that the driving seemed a little weak and I had more fun doing the Spiderman/Tommy Vercetti hybrid thing tbh, but at least the agent's super car is just as equally as imposing and powerful as the agent himself.

Day of Defeat: Source - 8/10

-1 for not having all the awesome DoD maps (saints, caen, switch, falaise, the list goes on and on and on) and -1 for nerfing the K98, removing the Brits, and taking out half the classes. Other than that, it's awesome and you guys should join if you see me playing on Steam at any point.

System Shock-8/10-Seriously, why wasnt everyone playing this instead of the half assed mod Doom 2

I LOVE what it tried to be, technical limitations didnt even ruin it.

Cyberspace sucks hard and controls are BAD mouse aiming really should have been considered harder.

Sam and Max 104: Abe Lincoln Must Die!

7/10

Very questionable replay value, but certainly worth it the first time. We decided to play it in class today because the school's firewall blocked Steam, and for some reason it was the only thing working in offline mode.

Yeah i'm with you there. Never understood why they don't have Caen and why they took out the British.

Legend Of Zelda Master Quest
8/10

Since the original Ocarina of Time didn't have difficulty levels, this is a great game to play once you finished it. Master quest was a lot of fun, but there weren't many new/replaced things.
I think it's nothing special to play for people who didn't grow up with Zelda OoT but if you did you should really try it.

Black 7/10
lots of blammo, about as shallow as it gets but fun while it lasts.
Ghost Recon 2 8/10
For some reason the first mission was the hardest. I'm about halfway through at the moment i think.

Too Human - 7.5/10

With a few patches this game would have been soo much better. To me the large landscapes and fights were fun and there was just something addicting about it. I played the single player part of the game and it took all but 15 hrs. I would change a few things if I could: get rid of the dumb and annoying death scene, have more health orbs appear in enemies/crates, add a sprint button, and fix a few glitches. other than that the last level was amazing and fun. worth the rental imo, and looking back i probably should have tried the multiplayer part of the game

InFamous - 8/10

Repetitive to an extent, especially playing through it again as the opposite karma, but there are big differe ces in the missions and side missions.

Addictive 'just one more mission' type progress.

Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare: 8/10

Yea I'm just playing it now... I played World at War and I thought it was VERY meh, this is one is way better. It's probably because of my bitterness of any NEWER WW2 games (Wolfenstein + Battlefield 1942 = <3)

Anyways, it's fun, the only thing I'm sort of pissed off about is that my brother sold Saint's Row 2 and L4D for it. He payed for them both so they WERE his games, but they are both better then this game. That's NOT putting them together. On their own they are better.. Selling both was just a kick to my scrotum.

Yeah i'm with you there. Never understood why they don't have Caen and why they took out the British.

Seriously. Flash just isn't the same with Americans instead of the Brit paratroopers. And dod_caen was by far my favorite map, the layout was just goddamn perfect... I've heard there's a DOD:S custom remake of it, but I haven't tried it out nor have I found a server that runs it.

Red Faction - 8/10...
That was ****ing intense, can't believe I never finished the whole game before.
The last few levels were ****ing hard but very satisfying once you finally beat them.

Can't wait to get my hands on Red Faction 3 in August.

Heroes of Might and Magic 5

6.5/10

After having played Heroes 3, which is one of the best games I've ever played, this is horrible to play. It is still a great game, but the gameplay just doesn't work as good, and is not nearly as addictive. Dont ask me why

The first one? That game was ACE. After you got used to the idea of no auto save (Quit many times from tantrums because of this) It was really quite engaging and fun. And if you couldn't figure out where to go you could always just blow your way through a wall to get to the next area if you had the equipment. Finished the game once. Was very pleased with myself indeed.
I'd give it 8/10 also.

Playing through Guerrilla right now. I like it. Very satisfying blowing up everything you can see. Graphics seem a bit behind the league to today's standards but so was Saints Row 2 and that proved to be more fun then many others.

Yeah, the first one.
Tried playing the second one and couldn't get into it, felt way too consolized.

I'm dying to try Guerilla but it doesn't come out on the PC until August! ;(

Naww well you'll probably get some free add on to make up for the delay :s

Starcraft - 10/10

I fully enjoy it and think it is a wonderful and wonderfully complex game. I just wish I was a better player.

Seconded that RF part 2 sucked.
It was way too linear and short. Also, Geo-Mod was almost non-existent in 2. I don't know why it was even advertised as having it.

Furthermore, the story just was not as epic as the whole miner struggle thing in part one.
I'm hoping Guerrilla is a re-make/side-story to part one tbh.

[Prototype] - 9/10

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHtPZo7KaHc

I started playing this with mouse and keyboard but had to stop due to a known mouse lagging issue that is the fault of the game. I switched to my 360 pad and I honestly don't know how some of this stuff could have been pulled off with K+M. There's some really crazy stuff going on in this.
At first it seemed like a generic run-of-the-mill Spiderman 3-esque game, with your character free roaming around NYC doing side quests or story missions. It's not until you persevere with the game, unlocking upgrades for new powers and effectively using your disguise and accuse powers that the game begins to stand out.
I've just unlocked the chopper airjack which is an amazing move to pull off giving you control of an in flight helicopter.
Graphics can look both outdated at some points and great at others, though the bad graphics sometimes doesn't really detract as there is that much going on at once.
I will say that the engine looks and feels (when on foot) like the Saints Row 2 one, but if it is it's far better optimised now than it was.

This game was a real surprise for me as I was not expecting this much from it. Just be careful of buying the PC version without trying it first as some people have had tech issues with it although it works great for me.

Immense fun.

Been plying prototype on PC. Max settings at 1920 x 1080 and it plays awesome, no flaws (quad core, 4gb ram, GTX 285). Game itself is very fun and challenging at times. The powers are very awesome, upgrades work well, havnt played too much to comment on story so far but seems alright.
Playing with a keyboard and mouse, it's not that bad. You get used to the feel of it like any game.
Also, GORE! So much satisfaction running into a mob of civilians and unleashing hell upon them, watching them tear into iddy biddy pieces. Just does not get old.
Like stemot said, there is a lot of fun to be had with this one.

I just wish you were a better human being.

If you're deriding Starcraft here, you and I just might have to fight to the death. Why must you always ooze greasy contempt and derision all over the things I love?

My post was completely detached from Starcraft. Of which I ... dare I say love?

i call bs on that.

prototype 6/10

its fun but its also chaotic to the point of exhaustion sometimes.

Samon and Ennui find common ground twice in the space of a week, what is wrong with the world?

The chaos is what I find brilliant.

Finding yourself in the middle of a block full of infected, whilst being the subject of a strike team of 2 tanks and 3 helicopters only to fire your arm out over 2 buildings to grapple a chopper, pull yourself up and take control and then taking out the other choppers before a tank blows up the chopper you're in and sends you hurtling towards it with your elbow drop powered up to take it out.

That is beautiful chaos.

We agree on many, many things.

We just also happen to disagree vehemently a lot of the time. But I wubs him.

Sins of a Solar Empire - 8/10
Massive-scale space strategy in real time ain't never been this good.

edit: reply #3000, wow

It's uncanny how much Prototype looks like the Wolverine game, at least the on-the-ground hack-and-slash part anyway.

Vietcong - 8.5/10...
Probably the best Vietnam game you can find.
Scared me to death on a number of occasions.
The story is your typical war story, but you actually have to listen to characters talk and read your diary and all sorts of other stuff to get the whole thing.
It's basically a mix of Platoon and Full Metal Jacket(after bootcamp) and a dash of Apocalypse Now(main character seems to be heavily based off of Willard)
The game itself is pretty linear but the areas you fight in are very open ended, most of the time you're fighting in dense jungles and other times you're in a town and there's also some points where you can drive a jeep and be a gunner on a helicopter.(like that scene in FMJ.)
The singleplayer really never left me bored or with a feeling of "Oh Christ, more of this shit.", it managed to be pretty varied and left me anticipating the next mission.
Also, you're almost ALWAYS put in charge of a team of fairly intelligent AI team mates that you don't really have to babysit that much.
They're quite capable of kicking ass on their own.

The multiplayer is damn fun, albeit a little on the laggy side... it's got plenty of servers still running and tons of players.
You get your standard TDM, DM, and CTF along with CO-OP, King of the Hill, Real War(one shot kills, no hud/compass doesn't show friend or foe/no nametags/etc), Turn Table(haven't tried yet) and Last Man Standing, all of which have a decent amount of servers each.
You can be either the US or the NVA, the mp is class based you have your usual Assault, Heavy Gunner, Medic, and Engineer... with several different weapons for each class.

I can tell that I'm going to be playing this one for a pretty long time.

Thief: The Dark Project - 8/10
I've had a weird relationship with the Thief series. Bottom line is, until this week I was probably the only person in the world enamoured enough to buy an entire trilogy of games I basically haven't played. Thankfully, I have no money and several unplayed and brilliant PC games collecting dust, so it's Thief trilogy time finally!

There isn't really much to say on The Dark Project that hasn't already been said by everyone else who's had the good fortune to play it. When you're sneaking around a mansion, clubbing guards over the bonce and hiding their bodies, collecting every last piece of shininess and exploring every last fireplace for secret switches, it's a true First Person and Video Gaming milestone, with a great universe and sublime atmosphere (ok, so some elements of the world are just too boxy, but it's not that bad).

And then there are Zombies. Actually, I think the Zombies are unfairly shouldering the blame for Thief's shortcomings. They just fit the image of 'mindless shooter elements' best: at least the Holy Water arrow thing puts a twist on the tedious running and gunning that accompanies the rest of the beastie shooter bits. Whilst the stealth technically applies in those missions, it just goes out of the window, (since the AI isn't up to much) and you hack and slash your way to the 'mission completed' screen as quick as you can. A shame, but at least Thief II recognised these faults. I've dredged up my half-decade old saves, and it's up next. Twill rock.
