Battlezone - 8/10

Awesome old game, but some things about blending strategy with first-person started getting annoying, like being unable to build or place units at your base when you're on the other side of the map. Getting around the map is also a little frustrating when you have to navigate through a maze of valleys (usually I just resorted to jumping over the hills). Also, the game was kind of short.

Last week I finally finished Descent (7 or 8/10). This game is fun but has too many same-ish levels. Towards Neptune and Pluto I was kind of sick of playing it. Also I only figured out how to save the game last year. You have to hit alt-F2... you can't save from the menu screen :(. Without saving, it was way too difficult to finish the game (I was only able to get to Level 12), which is partly why it took me 10+ years to finish.

I think I'll try playing Fallout next even though I generally dislike RPGs. The last (and only) time I attempted to play this game, I unintentionally murdered all the residents of Junktown, broke into the mayor's safe, and didn't have enough space to carry all his crap but didn't want to leave it there. I couldn't decide what to do, so I just quit.

Fallout 3 - 9.5/10

****ing love Fallout 3. Save the unneeded VATS and slightly broken combat, the game is truly a shining example of what a quality game is. Loved the huge, open wasteland and all the DLC's are worth the 800 points/10 bucks for the new weapons and locations. The game keeps getting better and with Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta on the way, I can't see myself not playing this game for some time.

for missions where you're able to build control/satelite towers you can play the game as a regular RTS with a top down view.

Air Traffic Chaos (DS) - 9/10

It's a game where you're an air traffic controller at an airport in charge of directing arriving and departing planes. From when they enter the airport airspace and go into the holding pattern to when they arrive at one of the airport gates to unload. And vice versa for departing aircraft.

Really great graphics that work perfectly with the DS, good music, and very fun. You wouldn't expect a game like this to be entertaining but it really pulls you in and chews the **** out of your nerves in the harder levels. The game is intense and fun at times, while calm relaxing and still enjoyable in other times.

Great balance of realism and fun for a sim game about something that would seem like a dull job.

Awwwwww crap, I built the satellite once but didn't know what it was meant for so I never used it.

Resistance Retribution - 8.5/10

Very polished game for a handheld and probably the best handheld shooter out there. The game was a blast to play during breaks at work and I just had to finish it at my house. hoping for a sequel like this or at least other developers to take note

Arctic Adventure - 3/10

Just found out 3drealms has a bunch of their old DOS games up for download, so I decided to play this again. Then I rediscovered how frustrating these types of games can be. This one wasn't really good for much more than nostalgia, and that wore off after a few minutes.

I'll admit though that I find this game really difficult because my timing on jumping and stuff isn't great. I'd much prefer an easy game to a game that pisses me off because I missed a jump for the 20th time. But I can see how some people might have enjoyed it back in the day if they like sidescrollers.

Fallout 3 - 9.5/10
So much content, and I'm still finding new things long after the main quest. The amount of community and developer support for this already brilliant game makes it hard not to like (unless you played Fallout 1 or 2)

Guitar Hero: Metallica - 8/10
Probably the last of the good GHs. The setlist for this was almost spot on, though it lacked a certain Ride the Lightning and Call of Ktulu. The rest of the list is great, from SOAD to Foo Fighters to Queen. Basically if you like any music with electric guitar in it this will have something you'll like.

Frets on Fire
9/10

Great game, no difference to Guitar Hero in functionality. And best of all: You don't need to play on a cheap piece of plastic which is also very bad for the environment(considering you get a lot of them if you buy every GH/Rock Band game)

Bioshock, 9/10.
Was hard, which docks 1 point, but otherwise awesome.
Also

Hellgate - London.
Not too far into it so i'm not going to rate

Prototype (PC)

8/10

The game starts off with a sort of tutorial with all of your powers and New York city in utter chaos, funsies, then you have to start the game proper. Your still badass and all, but you got to work your way up to other powers and while it doesn't take too lnog really, its a bit of a speedbump to the fun.

Likewise to begin with New York city is running in business as usual mode and only one small area with any military personel so unless you really loved killing citizens in GTA4 this part of the game may get a tad boring.

The missions are overall alright and there are side missions as you would expect in a sandbox game which are nice and fit well.

One big downside was early on there is a mission which has you trapped in a confined space, a good couple of objectives and being hounded by very tough critters. It felt very confining and not at all fitting within the theme of a sandbox game with an apparently all powerful character, and this had to be my biggest gripe so far, but once you get passed it, the game starts to open up and you get some actual carnage and infection going on, more upgrades and powers to buy and vehicle certs.

The game can be a bit cinematic heavy at times but they aren't really a problem, they fit in well, they can just be a tad eeny weeny bit of a gripe if your just wanting to play but if thats the case you got a whole city to **** about in without doing missions and you can skip cinematics.

A unique feature for plot progression and story telling is "consuming" certain targets which trigger a small mind-**** cinematic which is basically you absorbing the memories of the person you just chowed on which is nice, it has a feature called the web of intrigue (dfundun duuun!) which helps link all these cinematics together to form some picture of whats going on and how you got to where you are.

I found one target particularly delicious because in his memory he tells someone he wants "that thing" (hint: its you) on a slab to study. Well after what I did to him he wont be doing much of anything.

Overall a good game, the graphics aren't movie quality but frankly thats only an issue if your a PS3 inFamous fanboi or far too picky (hint: its a game, not a movie it looks okay and it plays well).

Holds plenty of promise if it can get some mods going (one idea is to do something along the veins of the military fighting an infection/zombie outbreak, as glimpsed at when you disguise as a soldier and help the other soldiers fight off the infected), maybe get some multiplayer of sorts on the go.

I gave it an 8 because that seems a fair respectable score for an overall good sandboxer with plenty of super powers where you go around whaling on whatever takes your fancy. Its not the ****nig Lord of the Rings trilogy or Biocrap, its not going to be worshipped like say a HL game, but its good at what it does and does exactly what it intends. I would advise you try it, the PC version is good, and I assume it shines even more on consoles.

A better port then Halo even. The controls are naturally for a console so at first you'll be a little "lolwut?" but assuming your not brain-damaged you should get used to them fairly quickly and be having just as much fun as any console kiddy.

Worth a try.

I was about to nerd rage all over you but then you saved yourself with that last statement.

Warhammer: Online Trial - 0/10...
Cool, I leave it to download overnight and it says the patching process failed at only 65%.
Stupid ****ing game devs should've made it so the game would download stuff as you played instead of forcing us to download all 12gb at once. :|

Also, now it won't even continue downloading, niiiice.

Mass Effect - 10/10

Had it 6 months and only just finished it. 20 hours 10 minutes for the last autosave.

It was a bit easy for the last 8 hours or so since I had an assault rifle with 336 damage. Kaiden and Wrex were my guys until the end. I saved them both and killed that annoying chick along with the council later on. I remember unintentionally smacking that news reporter in the face along the way too. Good times.

Max Payne 2
9/10

A lot of fun, and great action. I really love to use the movie-like slowmo action which saves you when almost dead.
Satisfying difficulty, but the AI is a bit too simple.
Also great graphics+physics for it's time with good performance, runs on medium-high on my Mobility Radeon 7000.

Ghostbusters PC - 7.5/10

Let me start by saying that the reason this didn't get a higher mark from me isn't because the game isn't up to it, it's because of the Technical Issues on the PC version. These include very erratic mouse control and occasional inconsistent framerates, as well as a section when a bit of the level obviously should have been hidden but was showing through the skybox.

The game on the other hand is quite good. I liked the process of ghost captures and the writing and acting, obviously, is top notch. Graphics can be a little weak sometimes, until you get another glimpse of the character models again and all is forgiven.

All in all a decent game, and another one to add to the very short list of decent film tie-ins.

Trackmania Nations Forever.

Addictive game. Lots of fun.

7/10

psychonauts 7/10

I am going to defy gaming culture and say that this game isn't that great. It's good don't get me wrong but it's overrated. It's a simple platformer in terms of gameplay but it does shine in its design and humour, which quickly goes away in the second half :(

The second half ruins what was otherwise a great game. It turns into a scavenger hunt, has controller breakingly frustrating moments and loses its humour. The last level especially is ****ing irritating. One other thing though the system in place to tell you if you need a power works well in theory. I went to a level without the invisibility spell and wasn't told this WTF?! o_O I spent forever wondering what to do and gave up, went to gamefaqs and found out I needed invisibility but I was never told!

It's a good game but not that great. Puts me off brutal legend abit considering very little gameplay has been shown for it. I would wait for reviews but psychonauts got unrequitted praise anyway >_>

*puts on flame suit*

EDIT: although yeah that milkman level is really cool, if a little hard to know where to go at times

I seriously hope you like Beyond Good and Evil.
Because Samon'll ban you if you don't Raz. :dozey:

I loved BG&E regardless of what Samon thinks though and can't wait for part 2.

Never played it, don't want to play it, as far as I'm concerned the game is probably worse than Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing.

Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection

8/10

This compilation disc includes 40 Genesis titles. You can also unlock some arcade and Sega Master System games. Doesn't include the lock on feature for Sonic 2, 3 and S&K. Using cheats doesn't disable achievements so they should be fairly easy to get. Some games, however, don't have cheats and you'll have to tough it out. No online play for games like the Streets of Rage series is a bad thing. All the games have been upgraded to HD. They all look and play nice. I recommend this game to any retro gaming/genesis/sega fans.

Here is a list of the games.

Nice collection. Should have bomerman though! Also, lack of Sonic 3 & Kunckles is pretty gay.

Sega said that if they would have included lock on, some other games would have been dropped due to lack of development time.

Also, where the hell is Gunstar Heroes?
