rates and net settings

I used to play loads of hl mods, and was pretty good with all the net settings and rate (some of you might remember me from bygames )

I stopped playing probably around 18 months ago, and have only recently got back into it since CS:S came out, and I'm having problems remembering some of the settings I used to get the best out of my connection.

I'm on 56k, so can someone tell me which rate etc.. settings are best to use, and any other config tweaks that can help me play without jumping all over the place.

Using net_graph 3, my ping is pretty unstable (from 150-400 usually), and I seem to get some choking pretty much all of the time. I can't remember which var to change to lower choke ;(

Any help will be appreciated

i'd stick with the defaults star, maybe try lowering rate cl_updaterate and cl_cmdrate (like in good old hl). there are graphical tweaks out there that may help, have a google or search your database or move to scotland and get adsl, you know it makes sense
