I know both the events of blue shift and opposing force were considered to be "non canon" and the original with gordon was the only "canon" game, but if its true that the bomb reactivated by gman didnt really explode, what happened to black mesa?

I'm pretty sure both of the expansions to Half-Life are canonical; therefore, the Black Mesa Research Facility was destroyed by a bomb.

He's right actually, technically the expansions are not canon, though no one really knows for sure. Valve isn't super forthcoming with a lot of things.

it'd just be cool if black mesa was still around, overrun obviously, but around.

hey my names adamtoo last name starts with k and ends with z. hhaha weird

there's is so much more going on in the story to be curious about don't you think though. Valve is a jerk for not releasing information. I bet even if/when they announce ep3 they wont do any trailers or ANYTHING at all, those bastards

yeah, atleast confirmation that it will be out in 2012 would satisfy me :(

I for one would love to see the Half-Life story come full circle, have it turn out Black Mesa wasn't destroyed after all and have you navigate through a derelict, but infested installation where you have to do something to eliminate, or block, the Combine forever. Ain't gonna happen though...

Marc Laidlaw has confirmed that the destruction of the Black Mesa Research Facility at the end of Opposing Force is canon. oh man :(

It's not like it really matters. BMRF still lives on within our hearts and in Half-Life and its expansions. I'd never want to go back in any future releases.

The only reason I'd ever want to go back to Black Mesa is to finally figure out who ate all the donuts.
