Reach for the skies

Sweet, hope I can see my first Shooting Star!

What doesn't compute?

It makes sense:

The Perseids are caused when the Earth passes through debris shed by Comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle. This comet travels through the inner planets every 130 years, most recently in 1992.

The shooting stars are just debris left from the comet, and the debris stays there for us to pass through every year.

This'll be nice. I hope it'll be a clear night here in Wales.

Also, how many wishes are we allowed?

This was really the only clarification I needed. :p It isn't immediately obvious (to one such as I who hasn't studied astronomy) that the debris from a single comet remains dense enough, even after a decade and a half, to form yearly meteor showers.

How long does the stuff last, then?

255, anything above that and the wishing machine locks up
I tried to wish for more wishes once but it gave me a syntax error :(

Also, where is this visible from? It just says "look north-east"...

So...couldn't see much here, with the moon shining out everything :\
