Crazy article in Republican newspaper

10,000 times worse than anything people think Michael Jackson has done to a child? I know he's exaggerating this comment a bit, but still?

Extremely realistic graphics? Has this guy been playing a Nintendo for the last 10 years? Well of course he hasn't, that would suggest he actually knows something about video games.
 
I bet they would love take 2 if they made a GTA4: liberal decapitator


gta3/vc have terrible gfx not realistic in the least.... :bonce: this is so godamn dumb its a freakin video game... if they made a baby smasher 2000 game with better graphics then splinter cell i would play it 24/7
 
I'm not laughing. This guy is a complete idiot. If I wasn't so tired I'd analyze it and tear it apart step by step.

Lol, what did video games ever do to him that horror movies didn't.
I know he was probably walking along one day and said, hmmmm ps2 looks fun ill play it, cuzz all my friends (if he has any) do too.
So after ENJOYING the Gta series he calls up take two for an interview. They are like, we don't like talking to news reporters because they a bad mouthing douche bags. He was like OMG, i hate GTA so he wanted revenge.

I know a whole bunch of movies and books that contain statements like "let's kill those (insert insulting name for race here)" These are fictional stories and movies, and if you actually do go out and kill someone simply because of their race, then there is something mentally wrong with you.

i just got a question for this guy (which i e-mailed him)... why stay away from Take-Two's stock when it continues to rise? and w/ GTA: Sin City on it's way, i don't think it will stop

and another note... the gaming industry has gotten to big for him to control... it has grown beyond the movie industry... Sen. Leiberman will never get violent games banned... he should a tried when pong was accused of being violent for smacking that poor ball around... poor fella :(

I just did my research paper on this subject, and my results were conclusive:
violent Video games yeild LESS violent people.

I still love the one article that had Earthworm Jim and Zelda as examples of violent games though... :D

Look at this. Read it all. Patriot Act Long read but it kinda reveals how many ways this thing is taking away our freedoms. But with a catchy name like 'Patriot Act' who wouldn't just think it's something good. They're not just using this to take on supposed terrorists, they've also started to use it for things such as investigating strip clubs etc. which it wasn't meant for.

J/K no one actually started reading that did they? But it does take away freedoms but it's so dang long I don't know exactly what it does. I think it takes away the rights of midgets to eat next to the president. Think about it have you ever seen any president eat a meal with a midget?

I agree that that guy doesn't represent conservatives as a whole, but the same thing can be said of Lieberman.

Dear Mr. Byron,
After reading your article entitled "Give Back Take-Two", I feel as though I need to e-mail in to yourself and include my input and my point of view. I'm an 18 year old gamer and I have been playing computer games for as long as I can remember. My mum, dad and my brothers were both into them while I was growing up so I grew up watching my family play games like Dizzy the Egg on the Amstrad; After Burner, Alex the Kid, Wonder Boy, Phantasy Star and Space Harrier for the Sega Master System; then me myself playing games in the late 80's early 90's like Sonic the Hedgehog on the Genesis/Mega Drive.

Obviously games have changed a lot over the last 15-18 years and granted, no longer are we controlling a cute, blue hedgehog or a little Italian plumber in his red overalls; we're now controlling characters that have depth, personality and feeling behind them. Games are going to carry on getting more and more realistic and I for one hope they do.

The game, Grand Theft Auto 3 or Vice City do not glorify anything. That's not its purpose and any mature, sensible gamer will know that. As with all games, even right down to the basic level of traditional Chess or Checkers, the only reason we play these games is for the experience we have while we're playing them. This is something we talk about a lot over at http://www.halflife2.net (as I am a forum moderator there and avid fan of Valve and their games) - the games we best remember, and still enjoy are the ones that give us that "feel". It's very difficult to describe but it's the sort of feeling where you're part of this game, this world. You fear for yourself, fear for the characters you meet and even feel remorse (for example with GTA) when you accidentally run over a police man or a pedestrian.

You're saying: "This is 10,000 times worse than the worst thing anybody thinks Michael Jackson ever did to a little boy", but you're the monster if you seriously believe that. At the end of the day, it's a virtual world, with a virtual experience that isn't going to change you into some sort of maniac. If someone is going to climb up to a high rise tower, with a high caliber rifle and scope and start picking off people one by one, it's not going to be caused by a computer game. It'll already be there, it'll already be part of them and THEY are the people that are 10,000 times worse than Michael Jackson. Not some computer game, or it's publisher (you may actually want to note that Take-Two aren't actually much at all to do with the design process of the game and what's in it. They just publish the game and market it. Rockstar North are the developers who designed and implemented everything down to the code and the art within that virtual world, but they aren't Michael Jackson's either) that, again, are just trying to create a virtual world for the entertainment of others.

All of your arguments could be transferred over to movies. Have you ever seen Pulp Fiction? In that movie, a well known and loved actor (a big star of an array of films and genres), is shown to be a gangster. Is that glorifying? He is then later shown buying heroin, he is then shown shooting the heroin up his arm, and then later on another well known actor is shown overdosing on heroin. Is that glorifying? After seeing that film, do you or anyone feel the need to go out and start buying heroin or running around in gangs? Of course we don't, why? Because it's a virtual world, just simply there for our entertainment, and nothing else.

I'd also like to just make a point of the fact that really, GTA games aren't that realistic and there will be much more realistic ones in the future. The near future. But it doesn't matter, because it's just a virtual world, and it's only ever about the entertainment within that virtual world and will never extend to reality.
