Could these water bears be real life HL2 'advisors' - albeit in miniature?

They survive in space too... this pic was taken with a scanning electron microscope.

I'm sure there has already been a thread on these things but I can't find it.
In response to your question... almost certainly!

They can survive in space, but can they survive in SPAAAAAAAACE!

I both love and hate you for that comment, now that sphere's voice is going to be stuck in my head for another few days.

I wonder how something that tiny can look kind of cute...

The texture of its skin is fascinating, it looks like cloth or something. My first thought was that it was some bizarre fan made prop.

And yes, it is rather cute.

Tardigrade or water bear. One of the guys scientists always hold up when talking about possibility of life on other planets.

Sees pudgy body and fat legs: D'awwww

Sees two holes instead of a face: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I really want one of these!

I wonder if I have them on me right now!

That's a...rather terrifying thought. If they were miniature Advisors they could be taking you over right now and you wouldn't even know it!

Sad part is, we're more bacteria than human. We are combine all ready. Billions of organisms make us work for them all day long.....well I say enough is enough!! I've had it with this mother ****ing water bears on this mother ****ing Planet!!

not so cute are they? also wtf the one on the left looks like a couch cushion

Seeing the thread title I thought this was going to be a jab at some morbidly corpulent person on BBC, but wow, creepy little creatures instead.

I don't know if any of you guy already realised it but this is awful news!

These cridders can survive EXTREME levels of radiation, pH, pressure, both high and low temperatures, sustenance deprivation and toxicity.

How on earth is Gordon going to beat these guys in Ep. 3?!!?!

Unless the Combine Advisors' telekinetic powers are unable to block or affect supersonic projectiles (i.e. bullets and missiles), the human race is still screwed. Gordon will have to find some way to disable these powers, as well as their flying abilities, or somehow turn their own abilities against them. And then there is the mind blasts that make the affected unable to fight effectively.

Maybe the Vortigaunts' longer experience with the Combine and their hive-like mentality will come in handy.

The above could be the REAL reason why Half Life 3 is taking so long. Those story writers are cracking their heads trying to write down a solution to a problem they created in Episode 1 and 2.
