Really Need Help!!

I recently bought a new computer and decided to rekindle my love with half life 2. I installed it no problem, but when I'm unable to control my character properly. When I press a direction the person keeps on moving and won't stop and the mouse is inoperable when moving. It seems like the keys are being delayed and the person keeps on getting stuck and it is all very annoying. Thinking it may be my new wireless keyboard I replaced it with my old one (which worked like a charm) but still the problem persists.
I really want to finish hl2 and I will be eternally grateful for any help.
P.s. I also reinstalled it several times and still the problem is present.

Oh no, I think you misinterpreted me. I meant that my old keyboard worked fine with my old computer but it doesn't with my new one and my new keyboard doesn't work either.

Yeah, both keyboards work fine with other programs and games Its just Half Life 2 that's having this problem.

I haven't played any FPS games (yet!!) on my new computer. I wanted to play half life 2 first. However, if I did have the same problem with other FPS games what do you suggest I do?
