Hey guys, it's been a long time.

Lately I've been getting GPU crashes, random restarts and such. My GPU is running at 78 degees celcius, idle. It got up to 82 while playing World of Warcraft. I think this may be the cause of the problem. I took off the overclock, did system restore, but it's still running this hot, although no crashes.

I have a Dell, so I can't really buy any more cooling, but do you think this is too hot, and is this safe to run at?

For a 9800xt, I think thats pretty effing hot. But then again, I'm not sure. See, I'm having a bit of a temp problem myself. My GTX reached 91C while playing CSS for a good 2 hours, nothing bad happened, but thats effing high.

Hello

I have a 9800XT also, and adding one of these VGA coolers made a big difference!

I got an older version of this on my 9800pro, and its silent and pretty damn efficient. Here is the link, totally recommend this: http://www.arctic-cooling.com/vga2.php?idx=11&data=1&disc=

Pretty easy to fit, just take your time etc. The zalmans are also pretty good!

EDIT: You do need to have an extra PCI slot next to your gfx card because the cooler will take up 1 pci slot aswell as the space taken up by the card in the first place.

i have one of those on my 9800pro, works like a charm. O/Cing is a doddle now, no high temps = no problems.

so easy to install, but dont forget you void your returns contract by removing the stock fan...so dont go crying if you **** it up :E

Wow. My Gpu tops at 55 degrees celcius...and it's a 7800GTX.. and everything hardware is stock plus it was factory overclocked..so it's slightly faster.
Damn........

yea same with me, i have a 7800gt and it idles at 41c and goes to about 49-55c during games...90c is a bit high

I have a 7800 GTX and I idle at 37 and never go above 40 under load. but then again, I have water cooling.

My GPU tops at 101c :) I have Dell too, they have really awful cooling.

WOW thats hot. You guys best fix that or you might find yourself with a burnt out card before its time.

Graphics cards can take quite alot of heat, although it does shorten the life of the card.

everyone seriously, the 9800 series has MAD heat problems. I know like 6 people who have had some form of a 9800 overheat and cause problems.

Damn, 101? What the hell bro, no clue what mine go at, but cant be more than 60 :-\

Put more fans into the case if you can. Get at least one fan suckin some cool air in.

My card came with ram heatsinks and also a heatsink on the underside of the card and I have a fan that blows air directly over them, aswell as the arctic cooler vga heatsink with the slow spinning fan, my card is nice and cool even overclocked.

I'm too cheapskate to spend on a cooling system so I just leave the case open. Now it tops out at around 85c.
