About that 24 hour thingie:

Imagine the game actually has 72 gameplay hours. Even then this could be tested in a couple of days, all you need are 7 different testers, divide the game into 7 (cheatcodes and so) an after 1 good day of gaming they've played it through.

But ofcourse, you should keep in mind, that VU aren't actualy game testing, no they're not
They are mainly doing compatibility tests see...but hey...I bet they still play a couple of levels
