recommend a good single player RPG?

The only graphically good RPG this year will probably be Bloodlines, but dungeon seige had very nice graphics too - that is if you can bear diablo style gameplay.

For one of my birthdays, I rented an Xbox and a copy of Morrow Wind, I was hooked. The game is fun. I could do whatever I wanted by I had some consequences. I even got my friend hooked and he wasn't a big RPG fan.
I say Morrow Wind is one of the best.

I found Morrowind boring. You could always try an MMORPG like Ultima Online I guess, that's really fun for the first few months, or even Anarchy Online, I hear that's a good game now. Obviously you have to pay a monthly subscription though.

If you're not into that I suggest Fallout & Fallout 2, you can pick up the Fallout Collection for like £20 and they're really addictive and fun. Fallout is the best RPG around in my opinion, though it hasn't what you'd call "decent" graphics, but graphics shouldn't matter as long as it's a fun game!!!

but Baldurs gate is awsome, first time I got it started at 6pm in the night on a friday with intent to go out to a pub. 6am in the morning drag myself away for sleep (got 4 hours went strait back at it, truely awsome)

But if you're into a slightly weirder experiance with less fighting, might I suggest planescape. Huge amount of WTF value if you're not familiar with the setting, but a big bonus is you can get through the majority of the game by just talking to people and not fighting if you choose not too.

Planescape is really good but its also really weird if you're not an AD&D gamer. As such I know a few people who loved Baldurs Gate, but couldn't get into Planescape due to its outlandish style. But Planescape is a very very good rpg if you like deep plot driven game play. But bring yah reading eyes

fable's been sort of ticking me off, mostly because of the latest dev interview at gametrailers.com.

molyneux says that the game isn't quit up to what he wanted it to be and he talks about all the things they DON'T have in the game like; co-op or being able to choose your gender, and he says statements like "I shouldn't have opened my big mouth", i reccomend watching it you've been following the game.

I've spent a ton of hours on the original baldur's gate, and if your hard core i'd try fallout, kotor was alright but it felt like a dumbed down fallout to me and was waaaaaaaaaaaay to easy of a game and pretty short for rpg standards, i rather liked the short few hours that i spent with arcanum, and Planescape (from the 15 or so hours i've played it) has the makings of a classic.

if your into console rpgs i'd watch out for the new star ocean and Fargo's new Bard's Tale game, right now i'm just waiting for bloodlines.
