Recommend me a good game

Well your tastes are very...awkward? (lack of a better word) If I remember correctly, isn't the last two Prince of Persia games a bit on the 'dark' side?

There's some great games on the newer consoles, Shadow of the Collosus, God of War, Metal Gear Solid 2 / 3, Resident Evil 4, etc.

The second Prince of Persia (Warrior Within) is on the dark side. But the time travel concept made up for it. Besides, I played it because I liked The Sands of Time. The Two Thrones was nothing like the second one.

I am not into consoles!

Well, then, your options are pretty limited.

I'll give FarCry a shot.

Are the old Tomb Raider games (circa 1999) worth playing?

Halo, for console i mean, dont get the PC version, it sucks pretty bad.

What is wrong with the PC version???? Shouldn't it be the other way around because of the controls?

Starcraft. Best ****ing game before HL2.
Isn't it genetic that Koreans think Starcraft is the best game ever?

I mean, Starcraft is ****ing awesome, best RTS there is. But still, if your Korean, its kind of expected that you'd say that.

Oh, rent Far Cry, don't buy it. Not worth the money really. You'll find out when you play it through halfway. Operation Flashpoint does the same thing as Far Cry, except much much better, and with tanks, helicopters, planes and squads you can command. And a mission editor. Not to mention a bajillion mods are out for it now and missions.

Ok as for me.

Deus Ex
Operation Flashpoint
Freespace 2
Longest Journey
Psychonauts
System Shock 2

uhhhh......thats all i can think of

Don't get Advent Rising, the game is pure over-hyped shit.
Don't get Halo PC, no matter what kind of computer you have... chances are that it'll run slower than your grandmother on fly paper.

Halo on the xbox is great fun, good get-together game.

If you're sticking with PC, get some classic PC-only RPG's down you!

Baldur's Gate 1&2
Fallout 1&2
Planescape: Torment

Lots of spare hours and emotional investment required.

Also try the Thief series--any of them will do, though obviously the graphics for Thief 3 are tops.

Meh I don't understand your anti-console sentiment but regardless, maybe you should put in the criteria / format of games you like rather than dislike? The list of games you had earlier doesn't sync up to one another, GTA and Half Life series are head and shoulders above the other two you mentioned.

I have to highly disagree.
I spent hours doing stunts on Halo PC, and with the Source code out and easy to change, it made more stunts easy, and opened up new ways of gameplay. It is awesome on the PC due to multiplayer. You can't play Halo on Xbox live. My 1.7 GHz, 256 MB SDRam, and nVidia 4 SE ran it fine, no choppyness. That computer wasn't tooken care of to.
Advent Rising was an awesome game I suppose. It was worthy of my time, though it was over-hyped and it is buggy, they are some really cool battles in it. You just have to play it all the way through.

Ah, Yeah you do have some points on Halo.

It was pretty playable for me, but it was still very sluggish.
I was just really bummed that they didn't include co-op.
The customizable CTF and Slayer are fun and all... But co-op would've been a highly welcome port too.

Yeah, Pick it up... last I checked it was going for $15 at my Best Buy.

My only anti-console sentiment is that I don't have a console, and I don't plan to buy one just to play a couple of good games and then never use it again. I might buy a Nintendo Revolution if the controller system turns out to be as revolutionary as advertized, and not just an annoying gimmick.

I like games like the ones I mentioned. They must meet the following criteria:

1) There is a good storyline (like Half Life, Prince of Persia), as opposed to a bunch of independent levels almost unrelated to one another (like Max Payne 2).

2) It's a FPS or a TPS.

3) It's not a (2D) strategy game (like Diablo or The Sims).

4) It's not a MMORPG.

5) It's not impossibly difficult to finish. An example is Donkey Kong 64 (I had a console back then). I invested countless hours of work into this game only to end up completely frustrated when I reached the final boss, which was next to impossible to defeat.

6) It's in good taste. I don't like satanic games like Doom or Quake or Daikatana. I don't like 'scary' video games either (that's why I didn't like the Ravenholm level of HL2).

Wah!? Max Payne 2's story was great  Or at the very least it made sense/wasnt a series of unrelated levels

These are old but classic games...Shud be able to pick em up less than £10 each...System Shock 2, FarCry(apart from this 1), Soldier Of Fortune 1 & 2, DeusX 1 & 2, Red Faction 1 & 2, NOLF 1 & 2, Elite Force 1 & 2, C&C/Generals,

Extremely limited options you got there.

Your gaming tastes seems more Console-orientated than PC, most of the console games I mentioned would probably satisfy your criteria (there's more than just a 'couple' of good games)...but anyway I'll leave it at.

You're very VERY wrong about Max Payne 2 being a series of unconnected levels, if anything it has arguably one of the best game plots / characters / atmosphere ever. And I'm being honest here, the culmination of style and characters almost makes you feel like you're playing a movie, it retains enough realism to make the game seem natural (like a movie).

Not sure what's a TPS...

But overall, your requirements filter out majority of the PC games...not to mention PC are generally slanted towards Multi-Player components while console's are generally Single-Player.

After I saw his "criteria", I immediately thought "Freedom Fighters".

Gah! Another game I must get!

And yes, Halo PC was the shit IMO. Not shit, THE shit.

Third person shooter I believe.

I might suggest Indigo prophecy. Its not a shooter neccesarily, but a 3rd person adventure game. Its got a excelent story, not an mmo, not impossible, and in good taste (well, in every good story there is a evil bit, but its not a focal point, nor is it over-the-top).

freedom fighters is an awesome game but you should just get hitman

Correction: It has a brilliant story, but someone threw away the last 5 pages and they had to improvise on the spot for the rest.
