I've had this giant CRT Samsung for over 5 years now, and I'm finally ready to give it the boot.

I'm buying an Alienware desktop, dont try and talk me out of it.

I need a new monitor to go with my new system.

I have no idea whats good these days. Tell me!

Criteria:

-No price range
-HD Monitor
-21" or more

I wish I could give my CRT the boot. I would love to be able to have dual wide screen monitors. Would be great for programming and other hobbies I have.

My monitor is so blurry now.

You should buy a....buy a...ARGH...GAAAA....MMMMMM....FFFFF....

DON'T BUY AN ALIENWARE.

Sorry I couldn't stop it coming out :( Samsung / Dell monitors are very good. Viewsonic is good value with some nice monitors around right now. Do your googling of reviews when you find one you like. I've found 22" are pretty reasonably priced, but you pay an extra £100 for 2 more inches which is ridiculous in my opinion. If you can stretch to 24" with HDMI ports, do it. Alienware... :(

Build your own and use the money you save to buy yourself a kickass monitor.

So anything less than 1920x1080 is not considered an "HD Monitor"? Seems kind of silly. These aren't televisions.

Besides I don't know any flatscreens over 21" that are not at least 1080.

Also my posts were never any better, were they? I don't think I've changed.

My recommendation would be this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824176104&Tpk=HP LP2475w

Big, top notch image quality and more inputs than you can shake a stick it, and a reasonable price for what it is too.

I bought one myself after many months of research and deliberation and couldn't be happier (ok, well that's probably a lie, as i know even better monitors exist, but you get the drift !)

Samsung - If its not samsung your doing it wrong.

Necropost for great justice!

I'm necroing this thread for my own purposes. Say I had ~$300 to spend and I wanted the best TN panel in the 21-24" range. "Best TN" chiefly being viewing angle color fidelity. IPS would be nice, but they're all out of my price range. Also I'd love to have an LED panel but I don't think the technology has matured enough yet as the selection is awfully limited and the reviews are pretty mixed.

Anyway, here are a couple choices I came up with:
SAMSUNG 2433BW
SAMSUNG P2350-1
SAMSUNG P2370HD-1

There is a $100 price difference but I can't really tell by the specs why they're so different. Any other good choices out there besides Samsung?

No.

Ok, LG maybe. Actually, LG does make really great quality LED panels. But I guess that's not what you're looking for.

Only one of those is even available, so I'd say that narrows it down a bit.

Don't be so quick to discount LED panels. I've been using the Samsung XL2370 for several months now and it has been fantastic.

I have a 23" LG HD monitor with 1080p, 50,000:1 contrast, 2 ms and its was about $215 on tigerdirect.com

it is awesome! go for a 23" and be happy for a change

Hah, I ended up going with this one. As chance would have it, the Microsoft store where my fiancee ended up buying her new laptop had a special on displays going on. Buy a laptop, get a free basic monitor, 50% off all the rest. XL2370 was an easy goddamn choice. I love it so far. OKAY RESUME THREAD DEATH
