You have not lived until you have sat down and placed Dark side of the Moon by Pink Floyd (its a CD btw) in your player, and just relaxed, it is the BEST CD EVER.

I grab it out of my dad's vinyl collection every now and then and give it a listen. I have it on mp3 but it's not the kind of music you can just listen to on shuffle, it's a complete album, much like Mars Volta's Deloused.

And yeah, I heard the Sparta song Cut Your Ribbon when it came out but just recently found out they were from ATDI. Nice song, but I haven't heard much else from/about them so I haven't check em out yet. I have so many cds already on my to-get list :)

ok, just get all System of a Down albums (they`re only 3)
Or at least get toxicity, peephole, a.d.d., cubert, metro, needles
oh and don`t forget I`m alive and imaginations from the other from Blind Guardian

:bounce:

Anyone who thought Toxicity was a bit poppy is going to hate Steal This Album. It's not really even an album, just stuff they had leftover from Toxicity, I don't like it much.

Hes already said he hates SOAD :p and with good reason, they suck!
Harry, I have only heard one ska song for RFTC being "on a rope" all the rest are just punk. Name a ska song by RFTC

Well, I'm pretty bored of my collection. I'd like some new and fresh music! :)

I shall obtain all tunes possible from iTunes :D

So, what do you recommend?

Bands/Artists I like:

Death Cab For Cutie
Rocket From The Crypt
Beck
Goldie Lookin' Chain
Half Man Half Biscuit
The Ordinary Boys
The Music
Catch 22
Toasters
Rage Against The Machine

(I may not have heard all the songs by these bands, so feel free to recommend some barnstormers :E )

YOU MUST BUY THE CD "The Empire Strikes Back" by Bad Religion. It totally rocks...if you want to preview it, all the songs rock, but some of the best are Sinister Rouge, To Another Abyss, Los Angeles, Social Suicide, Empire Strikes First, and Boot Stamping on a Human Face. It would go well with the bands you like.

Please please please. :bounce:

That 'tis the new albumz0rz. That's why it kicks ass.

Hey listen to this band, "!!!" the song "Pardon My Freedom" it's really good. It's rockish/techno it's great. I think it would work as a porn song too.

My friend sent me the song, it's cool. Check 'em out.

EDIT: Lots of cursing, great stuff.

^^ Great site for downloading FREE LEGAL mp3s of artists you like, plus they make it real easy to find new music. Just search for a band you like, and they'll list several other bands you'll probably enjoy as well.

Wow... I've never closed a page faster... It's nice how nearly all of their song titles have a curse word in them though. Cute. They should change their name to "We Were Abused Children"

Actully, they wern't, that I know of.
Its just supposed to offend, thats the aim of the group.

Hey bagder, remember me? Its sheep.

You might like The Ass Ponies, Swallow You Down is a great song methinks.

Broken Social Scene - You forgot it in people
Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane over the sea
The shins - Chutes too narrow
Sufjan Stevens - Seven Swans

Though mainly the first two, and keep an open mind while listening, especially with Neutral milk hotel. You need to get to know the music.

heh, man i really tried to give neutral milk hotel a chance.. but i couldn't stand their lo-fi, everything-and-the-kitchen-sink style.. i like elf power, which is another elephant 6 band.. but they sound nothing like eachother for the most part (well, based on "aeroplane", and EPs "creatures " and "winter is coming" anyway).

Yeah, that's most people's reaction to them. They are growers to the uttermost. Everyone I know who's tried them out, including myself, have just needed alot of repeated listens of Aeroplane until we got it. And, for me and some people I know, it's now our favorite album ever. It's simply orgasmic when it unravels itself to you, but it takes alot of time.

If I remember elf power(which I probably don't), they seem more lo-fi than NMH.

Anyways, here's some songs I'd recommend to try them out, but I've never known anyone who likes them off the bat without repeated listens of the whole disc:

Neutral Milk Hotel - King of Carrot Flowers pt. 1
Neutral Milk Hotel - Holland 1945
Neutral Milk hotel - Two-Headed boy part 2
Neutral Milk hotel - In the aeroplane over the sea

But then again, they're not for everyone, but if they are for you, it's alot your missing.

maybe i'll give NMH another listen (but probably not, i'm usually very decisive about music and rarely need more than 2-3 listens). the only song i liked off of "aeroplane" was that untitled track towards the end.. with the bagpipes (?)

anyway, elf power is more lo-fi, but they're also quite a bit more economical and coherent (surprise..). good places to start off are the two albums i mentioned before; "winter is coming" showcases their denser, darker side (sort of like a very lo-fi mercury rev), whereas "creatures" is brighter and poppier.. vaguely sounds like a much happier sparklehorse maybe.

Today, I av' mostly been listenin' to Bjork.

Pagan Poetry and Venus as a Boy are well wroth listening to.
