Multiplayer only, you can play with bots, but bots are .. just bots.

And it's running on Unreal Engine 2.5 (HDR, motion blur, etc.)

I've also never played it, the comments in this thread are very positive. How does it compare to other WWII shooters? I assume the online mode isn't BF1942'esque, and more COD / MoH?

VERY GOOD but ****IN HARD

Its one of the best WW2 multiplayers out there.
everything is subject to gravity, including bullets. Looks very cool when you get into a room with lots of people.


I'm going to have to start playing it again, although I bet I'll still suck at it and achieve none of the achievements.

best played with a friend using team speak, both manning one tank. good fun. great price

I have the same-ish issue. I have so many games that I've bought recently, mainly due to them being $5 on Steam...but damnit, I'm not passing this up!

It's the best ww2 multiplayer fps out but I'm warning you it has a steep learning curve. Dont even try taking a tank in a combined arms map until you have mastered bolt rifle plus smg

Also turn off HDR, it makes the game 'blur out' at long range and it's hard to pick people off at 200m+

Mare Nostrum doesn't suck. It's the best mod out for RO, right now. It's good fun to play when you get tired of the Russian vs German maps.

RO is a fun multiplayer game, but I personally prefer the infantry maps over the tank maps, unless I can get a Russian anti-tank rifle. Then I love playing on the tank maps.

People only say that cause the Americans are in it. The Darkest Hour team had a guy from Tripwire spend unpaid weekends to help them get their mod on Steam, but it still lacks the spit polish that Mare has.

DH is definitely rough around the edges. Every new feature they put in adds new bugs that don't get fixed. Their maps are weak as well, except for those made by the one guy whose not actually on the team lol.

I only say that because I think Normandy is much more fun to play in than Africa.
Honestly, if we're going to have a mod pissing contest, you might as well just play vanilla RO.

None of the mods that are out have any worthwhile reasons to play them atm.

This game is fun! It took me an hour just to learn the basic hotkeys and tactics, and so far, I can only really get kills with semi-automatic rifle and sniper rifle (they perform quite like rifles from other games), and it certainly has a steep learning curve. But I do enjoy it a lot.

Indeed. You'll find yourself messing around with the keyboard configs for a good 15 minutes when you start playing, but once you got it all mapped out to your liking, it's a lot of fun.

I'm pretty much a rifleman myself and killing people with a bolt action rifle is very satisfying, because it can be difficult. The only thing more satisfying than shooting someone with your rifle is hitting them with the butt of your rifle.
