I was thinking about ordering a movie from USA, wich requiers a Region 1 (USA) compatible DVD player. I live in europe, so my Playstation won't be able to play it (since i don't have a chip).

What i gotta know is; is the DVD player in my computer limited in the same way? Can i play a Region 1 DVD in my computer?

Usually when you install dvd software it sets the region. I think the limit is 5 changes and I think it knows via the registry. Not sure if there is something to unlock all regions.

I didn't actually install my dvd player. It was already installed when i got the computer. And the software isn't a specific program. It's just called "software DVD player". Well, if that doesn't work anyway, would it work if i used it with some kind of emulator (like Deamon tools or something)? And if i were to rip it to the computer, would i get all the bonus features and commentarys aswell, not just the movie?

Need to watch out because I thought that the region changes are part of the firmware that you can't get at so if you do change it too many times, then it will stay at the region unless you get some sort of software that will allow you to change the region without using up all the changes available. I think there is something called DVD Region Free. I used a trial of it once and it seemed to work ok.
