Registering Problem !!

Ok, i when i get done installing HL2, it opens steam up and says something about it not being able to register my copy because it isnt installed WHEN I JUST INSTALLED IT. plz help me i would really liike to play this game. Plz some1 help me !!

same here... WTF its 2 a.m in the morning and i installed this god damn game 3 F**KING times already WTF!!! PLEASE HELP!!

This is what is says exactly: Installation of Half Life 2 retail standard is required before continuing. Please insert your Half Life 2 retail standard CD/DVD into the drive and select "install" from the autorun menu.
