I went over to a few abadonware websites. An impressive list of oldies on the list. I noticed that many ideas used then were ideas being used today for other games. what if a developer remade these old games with sassy graphics, better gameplay etc. Maybe they could launch them on the anniversaries of the games original release. I like abandonware, but I get ticked off when I can't play these games on windows XP operating system.
Z was updated, why can't other games

What games do you think should be remade from the ground up

Transport Tycoon was one of the ideas I had in mind, mainly because many Tycoon games sucked big time, but this was a successful idea (If you don't remember it, it was made by the same guy who made rollercoaster tycoon and was released sometime in 1994)

Meh, be as bad as the movies, no original idea's so they just rehash old stuff.

I have been waiting for transport tycoon sequel, but the code for the sequel was used in rollercoaster Tycoon instead

Transport Tycoon kicked ass, I still remember having tonnes of Maglev trains roaming around sloping hills delivering all kinds of cargo. If someone where to make a sequel I'd buy it on the spot.

What about Alpha Centauri (not abandoneware to my knowledge) A remake of that would be pretty good. On second thoughts that might be bad and turn out to look just like CIV 3

Well... on a similar topic, we've apparently got System Shock 3 coming... bad news is it'll probably end up being consolised...

Wing Commander 1. That would be amazing if it retained the same feel as the original but with current technology.

I'm looking forward to seeing Firaxis's Pirates! remake, but only because it's Pirates and it's Sid Meier. Any other remake should just go die.

remake of HL1 using Source? :cheese:

Buried in Time, and Lighthouse? They're myst-type games, and I'm not sure what could be done to improve them besides turn their pre-rendered worlds 3d.

I loved turning on Martian landscape, then buying like thousands of those insanely fast planes :) Also, make the cities insanely large by funding them.

Your going to cry even harder when you see just how bad it's going to be consolizied. Just look at Thief III...I mean, Thief: Deadly Shadows.

A classic PC title, mutilated and streamlined for the console crowd. So horrible.... ;(

I could handle a remake of Planescape: Torment on a modern RPG engine...

Oooo Lets See here....

Body Harvest, Blast Corps and Jet Force Gemini to name three off the top of my head.

Y'know what old 2D shoot-'em-up platformer I'd like to see made into an FPS (Like Duke Nukem and Metroid have been)?

Ruff 'n' Tumble.

It's got it all, the different guns, the cool enemies (Crazy-but-cute robots, called The Tinheads), the best ambient soundtrack I've ever heard on such an old game, and a main character with personality (Ruff Rogers, the marble-obsessed psychopathic pre-teen).
