its a new mod, well to the public it is. the idea started out about 3 years ago. and the site went online just a year ago.
i was having trouble getting it publicized on major mod news sites such as planethalflife.com modhq.com etc

so i figured why not go underground and try to advertise it in forums?
i dont really know what im doing, i guess you decide weather im right or wrong. all in all, this post was made in my best intentions to speard the word out on my mod.

ANYWAYS, heres a little overview of the story.

synopsis.
Welcome to a complete new universe, an alternate reality that has been growing and maturing for quite some time.
In the world of Renascence exists a broken civilization, shattered by the realities of a chaotic past and driven by the insatiable lust that defines humanity.
Under it's sky lies a society on the edge of chaos, a time of tentative growth, the stretching of limbs only just healed, and the spark of a new hope.
The soaring towers of young cities stand proud as noble ideas of the old are rekindled with a renewed faith.
But in the shadows of these towers lie the broken ghosts of a pained past, the momentous secrets of ancient history, and the oncomming strife of an unknown future...
The story of Renascence is the story of humanity, an experience that touches the political, the spiritual, the philisophical, the romantic and the emotional.
It is a story of struggle that speaks of heroes in a world of a thousand factions, the immensely profound movements of powerful organizations, and the unity of a race against a tidal wave of unstoppable change.

"Renaissance" (French for 'rebirth'; the same word with the same spelling is used in English to describe a social revolution, of sorts.)

I'm going to be cruel, but kind and point out the spelling mistakes before anyone else bashes this idea for bad grammar, syntax, etc.

I'm guessing you have a sticky keyboard or something, which in my opinion shouldn't detract from your Mod concept and credibility. Unfortunately it does, so you should always proof-read your news items, especially if they're going to appear on the front page.
 
In general, it sounds like you're trying to accomplish too much. No, one element is unfeasible but together they will be a huge amount of work to implement and also will make this Mod a huge download and a chugger when you do get 'round to playing it.

Some areas need elaborating, such as:
"Advanced movement system"

Does this mean the model animations will go through more 'frames', with the models having more intricate and posable skeetons, thus displaying more realistic movement?

Or does it mean the manner in which the player will control the character will be advanced; perhaps more intuitive or perhaps a system allowing greater, or customisable control?

I think you need to talk to a coder about some of this. Try to find one that doesn't burst into tears when you explain what you want to be implemented.

I'm not trying to be deliberately harsh or vindictive, just to try to get you to be realistic (as all Mod makers learn the hard way when their best ideas get dashed upon the rocks of practicality). Er, yeah.

i liked that alot , nice prose style- who wrote it?

In my haste to help rectify that in most need of rectification, I neglected to add that it does sound nice. It's a nice writing style, one that will get many people interested, but one that also doesn't lend itself to game prose very well. Books are for reading, games are for playing. While there are some players, myself included, who enjoy a well-written story, not everyone has the patience to go through five pages of text every time they reach a new area. The pacing of a story's elements is of utmost importance in games, and a very precarious task at that. Making sure the game experience isn't broken. up. too. much. by long descriptive reading sequences and that the game isn't all action and no content and beforeyouknowitit'sallover -is a fine line to tread.

On the other hand, articles like your introductory piece are great as media releases when you're still working on the maps, models and code. [And also work wonders for giving your team a feel for the game universe and what they need to accomplish - Ed]They keep people interested, igniting their imagination while giving a fairly in-depth view of the game environment.

I have to completely agree with Crispy. You really need to proof read your posts. And a spell check can not hurt. I'm still not sure if the spelling of the mod is intentional, poor translation (not every's first language here is English), or the failure of the American public school system (of which there are many).

I mean not to be harsh, but it's simply... "analytical thinking" to be PC. Good luck. All mods need it.

The bits I'm dubious on are the "heavily populated cities" and the "huge arsenal of weaponry".

The huge population of the cities can be alluded to (through skilful mapping) but not achieved outright. You'd need to make sure that once around a corner, the computer successfully ignored all instances of crowd. You'd also want to do it in such a way that there'd be a 'bridging area' between the heavily populated zones, so that the player couldn't skip to and from these places causing the user's PC to constantly load up and decache the models (god forbid that they'd be scripted, moving models and the computer would have to keep track of their last position).

The huge arsenal of weaponry could cause more trouble than its worth. If you mean that you can choose from a huge arsenal, but only carry 5 different varieties (as in GTA, for example) this wouldn't be too bad, and also adds a nice element of customisation to the game. If it means you can hold 32 weapons at a time, this is not going to be as impressive in practise as you might think (just think of all the models that would have to be loaded each time you play).

heh, anyways, i was rushing on the last news post, so thanks for pointing out the typos. if there are any more, please let me know. its important :d

-Crispy- about the advanced movement system, what you said on the first time, about the animations going through more frames is exactly what i meant.
I look at the latest games that come out, mostly third person like fable, (i cant remember anything else cuz' ive been awake for more than 30 hours)
i look at the character's movement animations and it seems so.. dull, amature. not realistic.
it just makes me angry.
im going for realism in my mod.
be it how many times you can get shot, and where,
how long can you sprint, etc.

about the "heavy population thing". its just an idea.
i dont know how to make it work codewise, since i'm pretty much a c++ newb.
i will need a very dedicated coder :).

look. i've been into the modding area for 5 years. i know the game.
there was this one time when i actually worked for 12 mods at the same time.
being a modeller. gave me lots of headaches.
worked my ass off. and i learnd much about making mods.
but not enough for making my own.

thing is, i'd like someone to help me, be it consulting or just throwing me good tips. im in this with my best intentions. mostly for the learning experience.
