Repomen (near future sci-fi flick w/ Jude Law and Forest Whitaker)

Wooooooooooooow, I wonder what political/social issue this movie has a message about.

Yeah yeah. I'm not expecting to walk away from this movie with a new perspective on health insurance, but as a sci-fi thriller, I think it'll be fun.

Boy, the predictable 'twist' was evident from the time he said "we're friends, we grew up together": I didn't think they'd actually spell it out for you in the trailer.

Ha, I'm not hating or anything, it's clearly not a movie that's trying to take itself too seriously.

[BEGINS HATING]
Okay, well for one thing, even for a movie like this, it's just too far with the ridiculousness of the protagonists. We're seriously supposed to root for the guys who break into good peoples' homes and kill them in cold blood, and then have a good laugh about it after? "HA, he is fat. Let's go cut him the **** up!" And don't try to say this is some sort of antihero thing, because if that trailer is any indication, this is pretty much a movie about hypocritical assholes that doesn't act like the characters are hypocritical assholes. AND THE ACTION DOESN'T LOOK VERY GOOD.

There was just recently a shitty movie that came out about the exact same thing called Repo! The genetic opera.

This movie also looks shitty.

I have a hard time seeing Jude Law as a bad ass repo guy. More like creepy feminim assassin from, uh Road to Perfection? Or something like that. Can't remember what it was called.

**** **** ****!!!!!

i hate this world, i truly do.

why the **** must they take such an interesting concept and **** IT UP with a shitty action crap fest!!!??? why God, why???

CAN'T THEY AT LEAST ONCE MAKE A MOVIE THAT IS ENGAGING AND TENSE WITHOUT MASTURBATING ON ACTION SCENES!!! **** YOU HOLLYWOOD, **** YOU!!!!!

AND TO ANYONE WHO WILL PAY TO SEE THIS MOVIE GO **** YOURSELF TOO!!!!!

I have never been so ashamed to agree with some one in my life. Can't you like, hire someone to write posts for you, after you tell them the main idea?

no...it would take away the personality :upstare:

and besides i was pissed before watching the video, which made things only worse

the first scene with the newscast reminded me of Paul Verhoeven and made me think he totally should've directed this film. i miss that guy, nobody makes films like he did anymore. hilarious satires with over the top violence, set into a futuristic context. i've always loved how his best films were taken the wrong way. no need to even mention Starship Troopers, but i'll do it anyway because it's a masterpiece. not hard to see why the american mainstream didn't get it. "this planet is like millions of light years away, therefore it must be destroyed". Verhoeven should've known that if you want to convey a message, especially anti war/violence, you have to make it blatantly obvious and spell it out.

RoboCop had a better reception, but I doubt most people apart from maybe Ebert saw it as anything else than a shallow action flick.

this looks like it could have been interesting. what's with the implants i wonder.

This movie was filmed in 2007. Gee, i wonder why the delayed its release?
Don't be surprised if it gets a limited release.

...because a deep and engaging storyline is not what sells on the silver screen. Sadly. It's been this way for decades.

Name one movie based on a book that's just as deep storywise. Video game canon suffers a similar fate and is why all movies based on games suck too.

Most movies are all about cheap 2 hour thrills and explosions at the expense of plot integrity.
