reputable retailer lists Sept 2nd for HL2?

A local retailer I buy from just listed HL2's release date as being Sept Sept 2nd through Sept 15/16

"This item is not yet available but you can pre-order this now. We will ship this product shortly after its estimated arrival date of 09/02/2004"

NCIX.com rarely takes pre-orders for a game that isnt scheduled to come out in less than a month. According to the admin of the site they've been given this date by their canadian distributor

not holding my breath but I tend to be a bit of an optimist

I never believe retailers, if a date was given, most every retailer would change it. Optimist or not, its a retailer date and I never beleive them.

Uh when I look the little yellow box says:

the difference here is that the retailer is not a games retailer ..they sell computer parts. The last time they had a pre-order was doom3 ...and they offered pre-orders a day before gold was announced. Like I said, they usually dont do pre-orders (this is the second or third pre-order they've ever had) unless they're absolutely sure

ya but the admin posted this (halfway down page):

"That's the official date we were given, with the caveat that it may be September 15th/16th as well. Of course we're optimistic and will put in the earlier date.

We may change it as we get more info, but the September 15/16th seemed pretty realistic. (I may eat my words later I suppose...) "
