Well, Yes or No?

I feel that now we have crossed the 1 mill mark, and HL2 has released, we should reset the count so all the nubs have a chance to be even with us vets for posts.

Hmmm.... some people use there post counts as an identity of not been a noobie. But others spam just to get it. You could just get rid of post counts alltogether. But why not just leave them as they are... that would stop argueing in any direction.

It wouldn't be a good idea. It'd just turn into who can spam the most to get the highest post count.

not to mention i worked hard to get this many posts that ARENT spam, sheesh

Christ TDE, where the hell did you come up with 982 post since you got 10k like...a week ago.

Definately no. Doing so would just support the mentality that post count actually means something when determining a person's knowledge, or status on the forums. Its a rediculous way to view the boards, and resetting them back to 0 will just initiate a mad rush to post all sorts of useless, crap threads in order to pull ahead of everybody else.

this "vets" thing is all in ur head because as most regulars here (myself included) treat new members with the same kindness which we like to be treated and has little to do with post count.

He is special :D

Edit: No, I've worked very hard to reach this number.

I don't see what's so important about postcounts.. if they're there to see who is a "veteran" and who is not, why is that needed?
Why should you treat veterans differently from new people?

Because they beat those commie punks into the ground.

Kinda....

You can also tell them apart by the fact that they're constantly in off topic debating religion and politics to no end. lol.

Hiding and reseting them would achieve the exact same benefits. Thing is reseting them is far more extreme and my not be reversible if for whatever reason it turns out to be a very bad idea.

If we want to give people who are new a chance at being "equal" with veterans then we should simply hide the post counts instead.

Besides, I don't see the need to hide them anyway. Its probably only a very small minority of new people who would feel not "equal" to any veterans based on post count. Those that do would probably be people that during a reset would be most likely to spam to raise their post count.

I vote no, there is enough spam as it is in half-life 2 discussion, resetting the count would just make more... and TDE would cry ;)

Exactly.

Besides you're saying we should reset the post count so the "nubs" get a chance to be even with us "vets" but that's not how you do it: you stop using the the noob/veteran labels.

Well said. The problem is just that, that's the way the human mind works, most people are proud and selfish and look down on people with lower postcounts for some reason. If we can get them to refrain from that behaviour, we wouldn't have to do anything about the postcounts.

I only make fun of people for their postcount when its higher than mine, not lower. ehehehehehehe.

And that they don't have an avatar, or a forum-made one.

Remove post counts! All we need are join dates.

No... it just seems kinda pointless. It'll cause more spam, and it wouldn't be worth the earache :p

I was talking about the Veterans, doing all the debating. LoL.

No. I dont think it makes any sense to reset post count.
