Capcom realized that using a keyboard+mouse scheme would make the game far too easy/awkward, maybe?

Actually, I'm really not sure, I didn't really know they were even planning to realese it on the PC.

Or maybe I suck major ass at playing it. The controls and gameplay mechanic always seemed too broken to get past the first level.

Most probably. I sneak into the village, from all manner of directions, then end up getting attacked, like you do. But because you have to stop to aim, you take aim at one person and shoot him several hundred times to kill him. By that time twenty villagers have climbed through the windows and are hacking away at your back with a chainsaw. And I never know how to get past that bit. I've tried escaping to somewhere but I only find dead ends and I reckon I tried every single house, trying to find a way to trigger the end of the level.

Crap game tbh. Spending about 30 minutes fighting near invincible enemies in a badly-designed level is not fun, whatever everyone says.

IIRC, you only have to pop around twenty guys in that section before they all bugger off and leave you in peace.
And the guys sure as hell don't take several hundred shots to kill.

May I recommend:
Aiming for the face + Shotgun (<3) + Kicking their heads in when they're stunned

20 corpses should accumulate very quickly with this simple recipe.


Damn I want to play RE4 now

Reginald does suck ass, because the majority (including me) says that this game kicked major ass. There has never been a reason to make my buy a gamecube console besides this game. In fact, it's the only game i ever beat on a gamecube. So yes, this game rules the world. hopefully they release it on pc so I don't have to buy another gamecube just to play it.

It's a good game. It would have been nice if they took their amazing graphics and great gameplay and put it into a game with a good narrative, but whatever. As it stands it's still great fun, but if there was real substance behind the gameplay it would probably be one of my favorites.

As far as the PC port goes, I can imagine it working quite well on PC. The control setup is pretty much perfect for keyboard and mouse, the only problem being how easy it would be. This would have to be compensated by making the laser wobble more noticeabley.

And if the game is playable on a keyboard, it will invite no end of bitching about the lack of a strafe button

I dunno, the game just seems to be designed around a control pad. I guess we'll see how Capcom tackle it if it ever appears on PC

Not to mention how much easier the game would be with instant pinpoint aiming with a mouse. Part of the game relied on your clutch actions while you were getting swarmed, giving it mouse control would just ... kill that feeling since you'll be popping headshots from 20+ yards no sweat.

I have a feeling this will end up like the other big name console games --> PC ports, shitty controls and turn into a complete afterthought. (MGS1 , MGS2, Onimusha 3, etc etc)
