Resident Evil Clones

Has anyone noticed that numerous mods that are coming out for half life 2 are just Resident Evil clones? There is a goverment virus blah blah blah and it's going to kill off the world if it isn't contained. It never is contained and everyone turns into zombies or monsters. Then some fighting force has to struggle to fight off these monster/zombies. Not that I have much room to talk, but why can't game creators come up with a more orginal storyline?
