Restart steam guys! PATCH IS OUT! Surprise next week from VALVe as well!

The patch, while installing, should say, Validating HalfLife2. After that just boot it up and play. It worked for me, runs smooth like butter. Thanks you Valve, though I imagine there may be some people who this patch doesn't work for.

I don't think I was patched at all. I've looked in my monitor and it states "Steam is not currently updating any games" I checked 5 minutes, 1 hour and 1 day nothing. I've right clicked on HL2 hecked update news and the only update I have is dated 8/26/04. So no update for me. THe new site just links you to a doc on how to change your settings by lowing res and stuff. I did not buy this game to play it like it was 1999.

No patch yet. :(

It is patched. You can count on it. Go find that cvar I posted above. On my machine there is no evidence in steam that it was updated.

"The changes in this release are directed at reducing the problem some users are experiencing with sound stuttering."

Why not eliminate the problem instead? :)

Is there a link to the patch??? I did not get it...I got the offline "fix", but not the supposed stutter fix. According to Speed Demons find, I have to turn off Anti-Aliasing and lower my resolution???? **** you Valve, not happening...6 Years to test.....6 YEARS! Looooosers!

What patch?

Steam monitor show zero activity, No message to say HL2 or anything has updated, Game still runs like shit!

What's going on here?

AWOL update?

Steam shows no update, monitor shows no activity.

What is going on here?

Game runs like shit here too. I sorted out the graphical problems this patch caused, and now I've lost 30fps in the process.

Wonderful. I love it when things that are supposed to help end up making the problem worse.

My Steam client showed it was updating, so I don't know what happened on your end. :(

Hold the phone here!!

How do we know if we even have the damn patch??

I know what the suprise is....

its a game that Farkin works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Something really fun in the patch, my HL2 crashed before I can see the Valve logo, and yeah I did try to read their help http://steampowered.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/steampowered.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=280

Guess what? The first line I see is
"Here are a few suggestions for fixing the sound skipping problem"
Bullshit, It must be
"Here are a few suggestions for reducing the sound skipping problem"
oh yeah, same old bullshit suggestions anyway

1. Download the latest drivers for your video card.
Durf! Why didn't I think of that?

2. Turn down (or off) anti-aliasing completely. Many cards should be defaulting to no AA.
God forbid! Anti-aliasing in Half-Life 2? That's just asking too much.

3. Drop your video resolution down one step.
How about I drop it down to 600x800? Better yet, why not just play Pong?

4. Drop texture level down one setting. This will slightly degrade the visual quality of the textures in the game.
How about you go play tennis with hand grenades?
:flame:

checkmate, you are too cool! :)

valve, i don't give you any money, foreva!!!

:flame: It's refund time. And they will comply ............. Unless they want their fu***ng shop screamed down!!! :flame:

95%

As mentioned by others, when starting HL2 from steam, it updated as evidenced by the 100% in properties changing to something like 99%. Dial up users like me will notice small patches being downloaded.

Yes I do.

(edit)

DELETED

Thought id ask you this as your on dialup aswell. I'm still on a update of 95% and it does'nt seem to be going up at all. I took me a week to go from 85% to 95% and it seems to have stopped. I've e-mailed support ( :sniper: I now wondering why) to see if they could help.? hl2 runs, but i have to be online and it crashes every 30 mins or so (normally on a load). :(

Do you know how to 'force' steam to update or is it a case of just sitting there and see if it decides to start?

Hope you can help? :stare:

But Why don't they release an exe auto-update file for us (it's very small) who cannot use steam well? It is so clear that they are f*cking us....
