OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! ...I'm a blubbering fool right now!!! ok rtcw wasnt the best single player game but boy did the multiplayer rock ..best online game IMHO

YAY!!!!

I couldnt be more happier except for this part:

"id CEO Todd Hollenshead took to the stage to announce the game, which is multiformat but leading on Xbox 360 - presumably in the same arrangement as Quake 4, which appears on X360 and PC. We'll let you know more when we do."

**** YOU MICROSOFT YOU ****ING ELITIST BASTARDS STEALING ALL THE GOOD GAMES YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES!!!!!

that felt good ..while I really dont care what the single player looks like ...this is id we're talking about ..I really hope they stick to the formula that made rtcw MP such a great game ..in other words dont ****ing screw it up

FFS, stop stealing the games and putting them on a console that I'll never buy.

Anyway, I really loved RTCW and Enemy Territory, here's hoping it'll be good. :D

Any vague release dates? iD tend to be ok in terms of release dates... a new game every 18 months or so.

I like the very beginning of the game, when your in the jail cell, very atmospheric. And the other castle areas were memorably cool. I hope the new game has dark/moody areas like that.

ya I just hated the fighting monsters part

no release dates in fact I havent heard anything since it was first hinted at 2-3 years ago before Enemy Territory came out

RtCW was the first game i played online, ahh the memories ;(, I wonder will it be called Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Again

Ugh, should have guessed it was for the 360 based on Carmack's comments on next-gen development from a while back. Well, hopefully its formerintegrity won't be compromised!!!

RTCW ruled and must do-so again!!!

Wow, another sequel from id...great. I'm still waiting on news about their new I.P.

To be honest, RTCW was good, but not great. DooM 3 wasn't bad. I'm just going to say bleh to this.

At least id Software is working on this and not some other company unlike Quake IV.

How is this old news? X05 just started today. id Software did hint about making a sequel but they never gave a lot of information or said that it would be leading on the Xbox 360.

What's left of id. John Carmack just makes the engines, the rest of id (the ones who actually make the games) are almost all completely new. They may as well license the game out to another company.

It's going to suck if they are making for xbox 360 and then to PC.

Ooooh, new RTCW kick ass!

As many have said: Don't ****in screw this up id

Im sure the game will look just as good if not better on the pc. Leading on xbox 360 probably means it comes out 1st on consoles thats all. I wouldnt worry really. On the other hand WOOOT CANT WAIT!

they something to the effect of "ya we're thinking of doing it (rtcw 2) but someone else will do it" ...that's it barely a blurb 2-3 years ago

Geese, guys are going a little hard on the 360, seeing as though you havent even played it yet.

I am all go for consoles, less expensive, better performance, and well...its looking like they are going to have more games...

FPS on a console is WRONG.

EDIT: With rare exceptions. Perfect Dark.

What did you just say?

More reason to buy 360, if gates wants it, gates gets it. he seems to be taking 360 seriously, and his loyal microsoft drones will be rewarded. cant go wrong following the richest guy in the world :smoking:

cool, RTCW seems like a distant memory amongst games to me, but i remember the MP rocked.

Woohoo - RTCW was the best online shooter ever, and the greatest clan game i've played :)

Exciting news indeed.

it's like you and I were seperated at birth

I hear that

There's a little doubt starting to seep in though. 10p says that some pollock decides that 60 player RTCW with vehicles will be the way forward.

ET was heading in this direction a little (larger maps, more classes/abilities etc) It was always the simplicity of RTCW that stood out for me, and made it such a good, competitive fps. Every class had an essential role and the maps were tight and fast (beach, base and village are as good as it gets)

Fingers crossed :)

ya I wouldnt want vehicles to spoil what made it so great ...oh and dont forget depot :)

Depot was a good laugh :)

It did take a little while in matches though. Before it was taken out of pretty much every league and ladder I was in a clan game that spanned 3 evenings. In the end everyone gave up and called it a draw.

Never really got into RTCW but yeah I do agree on that vehicle thing. I hated CoD: Expansion MP, but loved CoD and DoD Mp. When vehicles played a big part in Cod: Ex it overall just....I don't know I didn't like it as much. Infantry combat is what I like.

I don't want my FPSs being contaminated with console bullshit. :frown: The FPS wa meant to to be played on a computer and that's how it should of stayed.

Way old? It was before my team's Enemy Territory's server was disconnected due to late payments because I learned about it on our website forums, so that's more than 6 months right there. It wasn't an official statement but it was a video about quake 4 that said "Quake 4 is being worked on by another studio since ID is busy with RTCW2" and it showed footage of RTCW.

Cpt. Stern said something about 3 year old hints, I don't mean those. I mean within the last year, there was an unnoficial but straight-forward comment on RTCW2.

I actually have a Foreman grill and many of you people are too young to appreciate it probably but I for one LOVE it! So easy to cook anything you want quicker and more evenly than any other cooking device out there. I eat a ton more lean protein than I would if I were using a skillet or a pan because the meat doesn't cook in its own fat and the clean-up is a snap!

So for all of you mocking the PS3 because it looks like a Foreman Grill, you might want to actually try one out before you deride:dozey:.

Haha, did he get this?
Microsoft was ordered last March to sell a version of Windows XP without its media player software, as part of the Commission's ruling that the software maker abused its "near-monopoly" in Europe to harm competition. By effectively forcing PC makers to include Windows Media Player with every computer they sold, Microsoft gained an unfair advantage over rivals such as RealNetworks and Apple Computer, the Commission said.

or what about this?
It also rejected Microsoft's proposed name for the product, Windows XP Reduced Media Edition, which it found unappealing. The Commission told Microsoft to remove warnings that the new software would not work with some programs.

He can apparently get away with far more in the US than he can elsewhere in the world. Thanks goodness for Linux being so reliable for servers and foreign governments relying on open source tools, as well as Google & Sun announcing an Office Suite based on OpenOffice, and accesible via webbrowser. Ballmer might have taken a long, hard look at the couch in his office after hearing this one :rolling:.

ON-TOPIC: I just have a problem with a long-time PC developer announcing:
that the Xbox 360 would be the exclusive first platform to receive the title.

Any of you guys remember that gold collecting mod for RTCW?

Where after you killed somone you took their gold and you would save it up or something like that... man that was so fun.

It's called selling out. :O

more info:

Raven Working on the Next Wolfenstein on Shacknews reveals the developer of the project and the fact that it will utilize "a sort of extension of the MegaTexture tech used by ET: Quake Wars," suggesting a PC version may indeed be in the works, though "the Xbox 360 is the primary development platform." They go on to say: "Basically, expect Wolfenstein to have one huge game world. No more loading individual levels." Here's the blurb on the game from the PR:

id Software's newest chapter in the legendary "Wolfenstein" series will deliver players deep behind the enemy lines of a war-torn Germany, where Nazi experiments with technology and the supernatural threaten to turn the tide of World War II. Utilizing a revolutionary new graphics technology targeted specifically at next-generation hardware, this new "Wolfenstein" experience will draw players into a world of unmatched exploration, action and espionage"

The whole "one huge game world" thing isn't really big news anymore. Sure, it's a very nice feature... but it's no longer unique. In this case, it probably came about as a result of pressure from UE3. I mean, so far it looks like everything id Software has done with their latest engine(s) is available in UE3... and more. This seems to happen just about every new cycle of engines since the Unreal series began. id Software releases their fancy new engine, and everything looks good... until Epic unveils their new engine that is planned to release about a year later. I think they live for that moment. It's like they wait for John Carmack to set the graphical bar... then they crank it up to the next level right after he spent all that time working on his new engine... just to spite him. Those bastards!
